Has there been any updates on Oubre’s recovery from his injury?
I know the chances are slim but if the NBA was to resume the regular season (and then the playoffs), would he be able to play in games?

There has been a couple videos of him working out. One in his back yard and one at the arena since they have been allowed back. He looks ready to go.

Good points about teams with no chance.
The play-in idea for maybe teams who are 7-10 seed may be the best idea.
That'd leave us out though.

The proposal does make sense, But I'd also add an additional" sudden death " single elimination game "lottery tournament " format for teams like us, Outside of the 7-10 range. With a single game advancement format, Wherein the winning teams recieves a minimal increase of 2-4 % increase in their lottery advancement odds, As well as 50% shared TV revenue earned. And a 5-10% increase for the two finalist teams, Wherein the team that wins it all gets a 10% increase ( + shared revenue) and the team that comes in 2nd, gets a 5% increase ( + shared revenue) accordingly???
This way, The league can earn back some lost revenue, maybe stimulate some renewed interest,
experiment with alternative tournament formats potential ( TV deals)?? And ultimately all teams can at least get something out of the lost season, AND the fans get temporary relief from their boredom and loss of game action.

I would love to see a 5 game "pre-season" followed by a "best-of-3" March Madness style tourney with all the teams, with the semis being "best-of-5" and the finals being "best-of-seven". Every team gets a minimum of 7 games and a shot at the championship.

So when taking all this into consideration, I wonder hi ow this would alternatively affect our free agency decisions this summer, As well as considerations with Oubre?

I think about him a lot. He clearly knows how to play on or off ball. Would compliment Booker and Rubio offensively. Defensively he is good but his size will be a limitation for switching schemes. I do wonder if what you have to pay to get him on the open market will be worth his actual production. He is arguably the best attainable free agent on the market for most every team with cap space including the Suns. Feel like his market is some what insulated from a possible cap decrease.Crives wrote:When I think about upcoming FA scenarios,I keep coming back to FVV.

I'd be shocked if we could get him. He is Toronto's future....and I'm sure loves it there, having grown his career there, bonding with teammates, and winning a championship, while playing under one of the best coaches in the NBA.

Definitely not likely or a guarantee..
This is a pretty solid group moving forward
PG - Rubio/FVV/Jerome
SG - Booker/FVV/Jerome
SF - Oubre/Cam
PF - Bridges/Cam
C - Ayton/Dario

Re: 2020 Offseason Speculation, free agency, summer trades (keep draft prospect talk in draft thread)
I really wonder what free agency looks like next season, given what's happening to revenues. The CBA needs to be resolved before we have any clue: will there be an amnesty provision, or are this summer's free agents simply SOL? Could be lots of team-specific effects that cascade throughout the league. It's pretty impossible to discuss actual plans, given how little we know. Most we can do is speculate.
.... But still, let's be reasonable. We ain't signing FVV to our bench when he could start almost anywhere in the league. I do think we'd win more games with FVV taking Booker's place in our starting lineup, but that sort of talk will gain about as much momentum on this board as it would in our FO so no matter.

1. FVV cannot start on almost every team in the league.
2. You’d think we’d win more games with FVV taking Booker’s place in our starting lineup.
Please explain.

There is no plausible explanation for the "statement" that the Suns would win more games with FVV versus Booker.

The cap will drop but will probably then rise substantially the following year. They may do sort of a scaled luxury tax (only those who would have been in tax under previous revenue projections would pay).
If the entire season resumes, the revenue drop may not be all that substantial, even if games are played without fans (or limited fans) because the tv contract is such a big part of revenue.
Booker's contract would also shrink proportionally, given he has a max based on 25% of the cap.

1. He starts next to Lowry for the Raptors, despite his diminutive stature. Not many teams have two guards better than FVV.
2. DEFENSE, threes and A/TO.
Whenever I talk Booker with fellow Suns fans, I feel like I'm in that scene from Moneyball with all those old scouts praising the way guys look and how hard they hit the ball. But instead of repeating, "he gets on base," I'm saying, "he plays defense." I have seen Booker shoot us back into a game, but rarely have I seen him shoot us to victory. And I have watched him lose us many games with his shooting, but much more often, his turnovers, and even more often, his defense. "But he can really score the ball," you say. Whatever, ya codgers!
