Quarantine Thread

Post#1 » by Cactus Jack » Fri May 1, 2020 1:13 am

I had an idea & thought why not create a new thread to post Quarantine & NFL related content.

Anything to keep us somewhat entertained in this time of need!

NFL is determined to go through with the season, no matter what.

But key players here and there being knocked out because they have to quarantine for 2 weeks or worse would really be a wildcard to teams with aspirations to contend.

Really true of all sports. Sounds like they won't shut down the leagues if one player tests positive, like the NBA did in March with Gobert.

But the typical protocol is if a person tests positive, you quarantine everyone who was near him or her. For instance, recently a person who attended Mother's Day services at a church in Northern CA tested positive the day after the service. So the state of CA is trying to quarantine 200 people who went to that church. As we know from the super spreader case in South Korea, one woman who had gone to Wuhan infected like 700 people in one church.

So lets say one player tests positive. Are they going to quarantine the whole team? Or just the players who were near his locker? Or the players he played against in recent games? Or players and coaches and staff who were near him on the sidelines of games or at practices?

Other thing is, there are tons of old coaches and staff on NFL teams. Of course the owners are old too. Will Jerry come down after games and shake the hands of players after Cowboys games? Or will the owners just let the employees take the risks and choose to remain at the owners box himself?

No doubt Jerry is one who's pushing for NFL to play out its normal schedule.

If there are players who don't want to play because of the risk, they would likely be cut or maybe put on a special exempt list. But the money is too tempting for them, because NFL careers are short. Actually all pro athletes have a limited time frame to maximize their earnings.

Is the NFL going to go for the bubble approach like the NBA, just play games at a couple of locations to minimize travel? With the Rams and Chargers opening up a new stadium, even without fans, there may be financial pressure to use these venues.
