he's gonna post 20/10 pretty easily in today's NBA just by virtue of what his role is gonna be so it's gonna *look* like I'm wrong but he's gonna be a largely shallow, non-winning player like D-lo

Well Lonzo has really improved his percentage from 3, though his overall FG and FT percentages are really poor.

Looks like the Pelican coaches were able to rebuild his shooting mechanics, probably also getting him real good looks.

Maybe that's why a lot of mocks have him so high, they figure if Lonzo can improve, so can his brother.

Don't get the love for Maxey, he looks like an undersized shooting guard to me. Unless he is another Tyler Herro who looked pedestrian in college but then blossomed in the pros I don't see it. Also not crazy about Cole and Nico, they along with Maxey seem undersized and lack the athleticism to make up for it.

I did not read the original piece but it is likely that the Warriors will trade down, probably there is a done deal:

No way there is a done deal. The Warriors don't know where they are drafting yet. Can't really start negotiating until they know that at least, and even then it won't heat up unless they get the #1 pick.

That article says nothing that would hint at warriors trading down. Simply states that they are using their 4 hour zoom sessions on 2nd round options first.. for reasons that make total sense. 1) they know where they are drafting there. and 2) get better at the zoom interview process before you start talking with the more important lotto players.

So I’ve been watching a bunch of film on these prospects and looking at their numbers. There’s a few conclusions I’ve come to:

1-If Wiseman is there you take him. His floor is 10 year quality starter and his ceiling is a bigger better version of Chris Bosh. You simply can’t pass up on a player like that in this draft.

2-Edwards has physical tools that you would only consider passing on for Wiseman. His ceiling is so high that he’s worth the risk to take over guys with higher floors.

3-If 1&2 are off the table and you can’t get a good return in a trade down scenario Haliburton should be the choice. He could be an immediate contributor off the bench at either backcourt spot, he can guard multiple positions, and be the PG of the future.

4-If a trade down is available, the targets should be Vassell, Nesmith, and/or Bey. Vassell is the most underrated player in this draft. He is very good on both ends and he should be a Top 5 pick, yet he’s being mocked at 10-15. Nesmith could be another Klay Thompson, but at least will be a solid scoring wing with size and a high level shooter off the bench. Saddiq Bey will be like most of the other Villanova guys, plug and play as good shooter with size who can defend multiple spots. All of these guys would be instant quality rotation pieces who can put the ball in the hoop and switch on the perimeter. Getting two of them to improve depth in a trade down would be more valuable than any of the guys left on the board if the options above aren’t available.

A couple things i'm having a hard time seeing are:

- Wiseman has a ton of upside, but I think Bosh was WAAAAY better at this age than Wiseman. He was much more fluid and much more skilled. I'm still very high on Wiseman though, even if I don't think he has Bosh potential.

- I'm not sold on Vassell. In fact I like his teammate more. To me, he doesn't seem athletic enough, is pretty much a spot up or iso guy but i'm not sure he will be able to iso NBA defenders, and while his form is decent it doesn't look as effortless when he's from NBA range. Reminds me of a shorter, less athletic Corey Brewer style of player.

I've been wrong a million times though, so good analysis even if i disagree with 2 points :)

Ability to run the floor, handle the ball, face up and shoot with range. Wiseman is bigger, stronger, longer, and a more violent finisher around the rim than Bosh at the same age. Though Bosh had a more refined back to the basket game.

He clearly has the skill set:

Just because certain coaches only use a player in a certain way doesn’t mean he’s incapable of doing more. Kyle Kuzma’s college experience should’ve taught us all that lesson.

That's one of my favorite videos of his, because it shows all aspects of what he's able to do on the court. And he shows major aggression.

He has been labeled soft by some, which I've never understood. Of course he wouldn't come into the league with the exact aggression hed show against weaker competition, but once the dude proves he's the legit real deal, then of course the confidence grows.

What's great when we project now, is that he's been putting on weight and muscle during this time in lead up to the draft. Also putting up tons of shots and even Woj was impressed with his range during a practice session he watched.

If we get a higher pick than the Knicks, can they trade down for their pick next year(2021) along with this year(2020) and the clippers pick? or is that an overpay and they would offer Dallas pick instead? I have a feeling we would pick Lamelo just for the chance to trade him for more assets

Wiseman's floor is a 10 year quality starter? That's a pretty big leap for someone with so little tape.

This is a little confusing, until I looked up the picks the Knicks own the rights to. So are these the deals you’re suggesting/asking about?

Warriors 2020 #1 for Knicks’ 2020 #1 + Knicks’ 2021 #1 + Clippers’ 2021 #1 (This seems to be what you said in the first sentence.)
Warriors 2020 #1 for Knicks’ 2020 #1 + Dallas’ 2021 #1 (This kind of seems like what you meant in the second sentence.)

Of course, any deal (once it’s clear what you’re actually asking) depends on the answer to a question which we don’t know right now: what pick numbers do the Warriors and Knicks end up with after the lottery?

If the Warriors end up at #5, and the Knicks #6, we won’t be able to get much. First off, if the Knicks want LaMelo, he’ll probably be gone already. At most, we could probably get the pick-swap this year, and then the worse of the Dallas/Clippers’ picks next year.

If the Warriors end up at #1 and the Knicks get #6, we obviously could extract the most. I doubt the Knicks would give up their 2021 #1 (unless it’s well-protected). But we could probably get at least the better of the Dallas/Clippers pick, and probably some other assets (Mitchell Robinson, I’m looking at you).

And if the Warriors get #2 and the Knicks get #4? Somewhere in the middle of that.

But honestly, in 2021 the Warriors already have their own pick, and likely Minnesota’s pick (top-3 protected), so they probably want a good player rather than another 2021 draft pick.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?
