Penny Hardaway: It's A Recruiting War When It Comes To G League Pathway Program

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 22, 2020 1:04 am

Penny Hardaway has spoken candidly about how the NBA's program allowing elite high school players to sign with a G League pathway program will impact college basketball recruiting.

"It's going to have a huge impact, because it's just a recruiting war right now when it comes to that," Hardaway said. "But I think it's going to affect us because we're recruiting a bunch of five-stars."

The NBA's initial designs last year called for players to receive offers of $125,000. But contracts for players in the G League's yearlong developmental program will now reportedly reach as much as $500,000.

"When they took the money from a smaller level to a larger level, then that's fair," Hardaway said. "That's definitely more appealing to a certain group of guys as we saw this year."

yeah, Penny... must be hard. You make 1.6 million a year to coach... while recruiting players to work for free.

I thought they were pretty reasonable comments. He acknowledged that making 500k is going to appeal to some guys. Didn't seem like he was complaining at all, just talking about it.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

You need examples of him complaining? there are plenty.
