I'd trade expirings for Steven Adams

Texas Chuck wrote:Some specifics in my ideal but realistic summer:
Jackson
Rights to Dallas 1st
for
Bjelica
Rights to Detroit 2nd
Deal agreed to at draft, completed in new NBA year for matching purposes.
I'd do it without the Detroit pick, but figured most see the 1st as an overpay for Bjelica
draft BPA with GSW pick, try and trade the Detroit pick for a future 2nd.
Sign Jae Crowder 1 year/full MLE. If he won't take it and Ariza isn't picked up as I expect try him for the Room Exception and offer Dragic 1/MLE.
Bring back Barea for 1 more year. He won't play much but he's great for the room or for a spark--particularly at home where the crowd feeds off him.
Sign WCS or JaVale or Biyombo or Mahinmi for the min or Room Exception
Go into next year like this:
KP/Powell/FA center/Bobi
Bjelica/Kleber/DFS
DFS/Crowder or Ariza
THJ/Curry/Wright
Luka/Brunson/Barea
With a draft pick getting the 15th roster spot.
And next year being the major change year. Obviously if something opens up this year you jump at the right guy, but I think uncertainty with the cap may temper movement.
Bjelica was a trade target of mine for DAL at the beginning of the year. Just seemed like a seamless fit offensively.
He had been great for SAC this year so I think they’re going to extend him.

Give the full MLE to Woods. There’s no maximum for bigs who can block shots and shoot 3’s.
I’m not sure they’ll get a championship level 3rd option guy, so they might have to get a bunch of 4th 5th 6th options on the roster and just have no weaknesses.
Another trade target for them all year was Otto Porter. I still like the fit.

I agree he would be a good target, but don't you think Detroit keeps him? They can offer more than other teams, have a ton of cap space and no way to spend it, and he's still relatively young, so he fits the rebuild.

in other words you'd trade Tim Hardaway Jr for him because they can't cobble enough expirings otherwise.
Not sure I'd do that as crazy as it sounds to me to be saying that. Also if you were just trading "expirings", you'd have to give OKC some incentive since he expires as well so there is no long-term financial benefit.

Be opportunistic in trades. Wright and Jackson aren’t in future plans for this team and are still young enough and cheap enough to garner some interest.
Combine those 2 with our picks in the draft and see what the market looks like.
I’d love for the Mavs to see what the price is from Orlando to get Bamba and/or Gordon or Fournier

I thought Wright added a nice element to the team that didn’t have in the backcourt.

I like Delon, he is really smart and a solid defender. Personally, I’d rather get rid of Rick Carlisle instead but that will never happen so unfortunately Wright will likely continue to get spotty minutes in Dallas once Jalen is healthy again. Mavs would be smart to explore options for him elsewhere

Let me be firmly on the record as opposed to firing Rick Carlisle to appease Delon Wright.

Come on prez, you can't in one thread call for Carlisle's firing AND want a trade for Evan Fournier. Trading for Fournier can best be described as Fournier's D on opposing players, defenseless.

Firing Carlisle? Bahahaha...he is our best asset after Luka and before KP.
The second we fire him Carlisles agent has at least a dozen teams on the phone who would immediatly fire their coaches to sign Carlisle.
What a great idea. And after firing Rick, we are going to sign who exactly to replace him?

Another option is potentially engaging in S&T with Detroit, but that would mean losing full MLE and having only a smaller MLE (7 mil).
Still, Wood is likely better than any MLE player they might get, and a long term player, so makes sense from that angle.

Yep. I’d like him on any of the up and coming teams. Easy fit

Re: I still don't know what to do this summer: Dallas Mavericks
It's probably a bad idea long-term but short term I love the idea of them giving Dragic, who might be cheap as hell this summer to play with Luka. It would open up Brunson and/or Wright for a trade to get a forward if they can find someone whose value is low or he's just behind good depth like Hernangomez was on Denver or Boucher on the Raptors.
Maybe Brunson and Wright for a forward trade?
Something centred around Boucher for Brunson actually does make some sense if VanVleet leaves and Ujiri really likes Brunson and doesn't wanna match some Boucher offer for too much or all of the MLE from some team that loves him. Dallas doesn't get a wing but does get another big to just play 2 all the time with Porzingis at 30 minutes and the other guys (Kleber, Powell and Boucher) at 22 that's about right and you can let your bigs go all out.
Or Kuzma straight up for Brunson? Lakers gets a young PG ready to help for the 10 minutes Lebron isn't there and can play with him as a reliable shooter and passer for him and AD.
Porzingis/Kleber
Powell/Kuzma
Finney-Smith/Kuzma
Hardaway/Curry
Doncic/Dragic
My prediction is they'll sign a Miami player since Dragic and Luka gotta fancy their odds of doing damage after winning The European Cup or whatever that's called and both Crowder and Derrick Jones Jr (they have bigs who can shoot so can fit him as a rim runner splitting time with Powell and then you always have one) seems like logical MLE dudes for them if they just wanna keep their guards.

Re: I still don't know what to do this summer: Dallas Mavericks
I think Dragic's 1 option would be to continue in Miami ... Kuzma would be interesting but Brunson and his under contract look great, and been thinking about how we could get Marcus Smart..would you like them for Mavs? Brunson + Curry + JJackson # 31 by Smart he seems like a perfect fit, he's still young and worth his contract money for several years What would they think of Boston ... they lose their 6 man ... but they get the backup Guard they need and one of the best snipers in the league saves some money too ....Ell Curry wrote:It's probably a bad idea long-term but short term I love the idea of them giving Dragic, who might be cheap as hell this summer to play with Luka. Re: I still don't know what to do this summer: Dallas Mavericks
my dream plan ... I don't know if it's real
Curry + Brunson + Jackson (fill salary) # 18 for M.Smart
Delon Wright + # 31 for Luke Kennard (looks like they want to move it, the price seemed fair to me)
Free Agency: Dario Saric would not take I take the MLE (I guess) DJ Augustin / Barea / Lee/K.O Quinn ..minim contract
Luka / Smart / Thjr / Maxi / Porzingis
Dj Augustin / Kennard / DFS / Saric / Powell
Barea / Reaves / Lee /O Quinn/ Marjanovic

I don't know if Boston does, they are already paying an elite defender brown, with # 17 and Mavs # 18 they can go up a bit and catch Vassell maybe. They trade Smart for Brunson / Curry / Vassell for the same money. ..what do you think
