Not a knock against LeBron he’s been good, but Davis has been better for the Lakers this season. Wouldn’t you agree?

Oh, isn't it? One of them is the universally accepted the 2nd leading candidate for MVP, the other not quite. One of them might have a shot at eclipsing Mike & Kobe's legacies, the other not quite.

What do you think?

Lol that’s the root of the problem, there is no way LeBron is deserving of 2nd place with 79 votes when he’s not even the most valuable player on his team. It’s funny how ignorant bron fans are.

Sure man.. :) :)

Yeah i am a Bucks fan but that doesn't mean i am not right. It's more than obvious what will happen. but feel free to believe what ever you like.

as for now youre right, but it is 70 to 30, can be 50 50 if rest of RS is played
people act like Lebron was playing terrific only for last couple weeks, which is not true

and dont forget that most missed games as MVP was Iverson with 11, and Bill Walton, Giannis missed a decent number of games

We have to agree that while Giannis is in a big lead, the timing of league suspension is making the home run for him. It cannot get any more perfect. He hurt his ankle right before the suspension, while the Lakers were on a roll. We all know March and April are the most crucial months for a MVP race and despite the awesome work Giannis put up before March, things started to looking very interesting in late Feb. If you remember how Westbrook stormed all the way back in 2017, you know there is always a possibility. LeBron got the bigger city, got the media behind him, might even have the best overall record, and on his way to scoring a lot of those "last impression" points. I think being 35 year old + assist leader that's a close enough narrative to Westbrook's triple double storyline.

I have no horse in this race, just pity that we might have been deprived of one of the most exciting MVP race comebacks in the history.

Maybe you missed the update but the Lakers have been better with AD sitting or out - both offensively and defensively - all season long.

It's been a thing.

AD on court: +6.5
AD off court: +9.2
AD net: -2.7

LJ on court: +10.9
LJ off court: +0.1
LJ net: +10.8

That's precisely why AD is not an MVP candidate and LeBron is.

The Lakers were actually negative with LeBron off court until the last few games before quarantine.

Compare that to Giannis, where the Bucks are still +4.6 without him.

If robbed means losing to a player who had a better (and Historic) season and directed his team to a Historically dominant SRS despite the 2nd best player on the team only being a fringe All Star

You can't be the MVP with another top 5 player on your team. And AD leads the Lakers in every statistical category but assists.

It's also a matter of pace and possesions. Stats are crap in today's league. I seen 25 point shooter with good efficiency still being scrub and not game changer in today's league due pace and defense we have now. 10 years ago that guy with same stats under different pace and defense from 10 years ago would be literal game changer.

Again context matter.

Spoiler:
Giannis still deserves to win MVP, but never but him in context of Shaq. He doesnt lick Shaq shoes let alone anything else to be compared to him. Shaq had almost GOAT peak as being one of most unstoppable players ever

They're going to play a lot more games than 2012.

Okay, so after normalizing for possessions and realizing Giannis still has Shaq beat across the board, what do we do next?

Still try to justify that LeBron should win when Giannis stats are ay better on both sides of the ball. And the thing people are missing is Giannis is not even close to his average for free throws this year if he was his stats would be unreal.

Giannis should be MVP but we were robbed of a great 2-3 months

It's Giannis' award, thanks to his elite performances on both sides of the floor, importance to his team and their place in the standings. LeBron, Doncic and Harden have all had outstanding seasons, but none have been as special as Giannis'.

Still favours Giannis, tho not as big a gulf as the graphic suggests.
Per 100 possession:
PPG 43.8 38.1
RPG 20.3 17.5
APG 8.5 4.9
BPG 1.5 3.9

I think Doncic season is more 'special' when you factor his age, tho not necessarily MVP. His production is insane, but he also lead the best offense in league history. And its not just todays age, Mavs offense is in a league of its own compared to its contemporaries. The difference between Mavs and 2nd place is same as 2nd vs 15.

I wont debate Giannis is more deserving of MVP but are stats really saying he is a better offensive player (certainly not way better)? Lakers have a better offensive rating, Lebrons offensive rating is higher, Lebrons points generated by assists is larger than the difference in scoring, offensive win shares favour lebron but ORPM favours Giannis.
