Is he really counting Siakim and Giannis as traditional bigs though? I'll give him the Lakers but Anthony Davis is a pretty unique big as well. Not to many bigs can take you off the dribble like Freak and spicy P. I do agree with him to a certain extent cuz I don't think anyone will ever be able to duplicate what the W's did. Draymond was a one of a kind player for like 3 years of their title run until the jumper left him.

You have to have some size in the playoffs to win. The game slows down and the banging under the boards goes way up. It's been that way for a while. Yeah, I know. I'm old.

There is nothing wrong with having size if it comes with versatility. This is why you see bigs that are now being taught guard like skills and those are the ones finding success. It's the old school low block limited bigs that have been phased out.

You want to talk AD but AD was a point guard in high school until he had that huge growth spurt, so his versatility was there from a young age. Brook Lopez had to reinvent his game, people forget the dude was a lowpost scorer who now only shoots 3s. Marc Gasol, same thing. Even Robin Lopez doesn't play on the inside as much he's shooting 3s and spacing the floor.
DENVER NUGGETS
Kyrie Irving/Josh Green/Dennis Schroder
Demar Derozan/Gordon Hayward/Amir Coffey
Torrey Craig/Gary Harris/Cedi Osman
Jarace Walker/Larry Nance Jr./Dominick Barlow
Xavier Tillman/Charles Bassey/Nick Richards

The centers of today just aren't as good offensively as the centers of the past. I attribute it to AAU (no fundamentals) and Euro (3 point shooting big men) ball.

how many teams have

Brook Lopez
and Marc Gasol

where BL not just can shoot 3s but he is also a plus defender? and Gasol is also a plus passer in addition to his 3? Those guys can play 30mpg+

Guys like javale Mcgee and Tristian Thompson are still getting 20+ mpg.

Point being that there's bias going on here. Of course the best teams have the type of players that are hard to find. Size + the ability to be a two way player makes you a good team.

One thing you're all forgetting is

1/ having size is much more important in half court possessions which is a huge part of playoffs basketball as teams tend to play much slower

2/ one thing no one ever talks about is why draymond texted KD and said "you see what we're missing"

he meant half court offense at the end of the game. that was why the warriors failed in '15-16 season vs lebron because at the end of every game the warriors struggled to score. half court offense was punished by their lack of size ON BOTH sides of the floor when GS also started switching on the Lebron PNR and Curry had to defend Lebron 1on1

Buildin a team now, makes sense to copy what works in the post season y'all.
I wouldn'T worry too much about regular season record.
I want us to get an all star guard that is a scorer to go with Frank and Mitch.
That B somethin to build around.

Poku needs to seriously be considered. Looks like he has an actual feel for the game along with skill to build on.

What's his future position? Unpowerful Forward? :D

Someone get this kid some cheeseburgers. Makes KP look like Ronnie Coleman.

Poku is the type of versatile big you need to win in the NBA. Can shoot, guard the perimeter, pass a little bit, and dribble the ball. He looks way more fluid than even KP did looked overseas. I’m pretty sure he’s playing in the same league that Giannis did in Greece. It’s really tough to judge him Because he’s doing it against scrubs. That’s why they say Freak fell so far because they couldn’t judge him against that level of competition. Top 10 would be way too big of a risk for us but if we can find a way to move up into the teens I would take that leap of faith.
