NBA In Discussion With Walt Disney Company Over Restarting Season At Walt Disney World In Late July

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 23, 2020 5:24 pm

The NBA has entered "exploratory conversations" with Walt Disney Company over possibly restarting its season in late July at Walt Disney World.

"The NBA, in conjunction with the National Basketball Players Association, is engaged in exploratory conversations with The Walt Disney Company about restarting the 2019-20 NBA season in late July at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida as a single site for an NBA campus for games, practices and housing," said NBA spokesperson Mike Bass.

The NBA is still deciding as to what form the league will return, and sent out a survey to all 30 GMs on Friday.

The NBA has a board of governors call set for next Friday to provide additional details, timelines, and plans on how it will proceed with the season.

Just cancel the season already, let’s move on and look to 2020-21.

Wow late July? That would make it more than 4 months after. Even if we just started with the playoffs we'd have shifted the regular timeline by atleast 2 months. I'm guessing we will be seeing the 2020-21 season start around Christmas afterall. Man we're living in some crazy times lol.

The "exploratory" conversations would have happened a month ago if Silver was serious about bringing NBA back. End of July timetable suggests to me that this all is just to show people "they are doing something". Silver and owners must have agreed to cancel the season already, and they do not want to pay players.

The same issues will exist at the start of the 20 21 season so would be dumb to cancel this season or your thinking why not cancel.the next 3 season's by then hopefully there is a vaccine readily available problem solved..

What a stupid idea. Either play now or just cancel it.

So you want them after 9 weeks off to just pick up the basketball and play?
The dates are to give teams, players, abd organizers time to get everything set up.

I don't get what's so stupid about planning the return carefully

Should have July 1st restart or just cancel the season. Late July? That means this season is ending late September then? Skip remaining regular season games and negotiate a settlement for TV deals. These guys are weak.

There's a big difference between the word "restarting" and "resuming". Are they really considering restarting? Doesn't make much sense to me.
