Wilt footage

Post#1 » by coastalmarker99 » Tue May 26, 2020 2:32 pm

I just got off the phone with Nba entertainment about Wilt Chamberlain footage in their archives and good news i think i will be able to get some new footage of him when he was a laker.

But I have to Ask for games and I am asking you guys to please give a list of games you want to see of Wilt when he was a Laker.
I could also maybe get some new footage of Wilt as a 76er and warrior.

so I have narrowed it down for Wilt footage as a laker i could get game 4 of the 1972 finals where Wilt fell and broke his hand late in the game it went to overtime and Wilt had 5 fouls and played great defence even though he risked fouling out for the first time in his career. Or game 2 of Wcf in 1972 and game 3 of the WCF in 1971.

Now as a 76er I may be able to get game 5 of the 1967 ECF there is footage of it and Also some footage of Wilt against Russell in the 1965 Ecf game .

The Nba office made me leave a message for a man called Jay rivick he gets the final say on the Wilt footage. I was unlucky that he was not at his desk as he could have picked up my phone call so that we could have talked to each other about Wilt :banghead:

it is frustrating but the reward is worth it especially for people like 70's fan who work really hard at getting Wilt footage if I can get more Wilt footage then the entire basketball community benefits from it.

So you are waiting for reply from Jay Rivick now, right? As I said you before, anything with Wilt would be amazing to watch. I'm especially interested in 1971 WCF and 1972 Finals among Lakers games. Of course Sixers or Warriors footage could be even better.

Do you know if they have anything from 1964 WCF against Hawks?

Any Wilt footage is good footage :) Thanks man!

I'm most interested in the even earlier guys (Schayes/Pettit/Mikan's Lakers in general). Honestly not sure how much of that exists, but it'd be cool.

I can't get on to Jay apparently he is on the NBA board of directors and while I have his email nothing pops up and I can't send him a message and the nba won't provide me with his Email :banghead:

I don't know what to do I might have to contract someone less on the food chain.
I feel like a dick for calling the NBA non stop on how to access to Jay.

I feel pissed off the Nba is making me jump through hoops to even talk to someone higher up about Wilt's footage. it is trash low key how they won't provide me with Jay's email even though I know it they said it was Jay rizuk @ nba.com but when I enter it on outlook nothing pops up oh my god this is so frustrating. there is got to be a way I can contact him.

I have many new patreons recently, so I can make some more expensive requests from archives but unfortunately archives are working very slowly now (or aren't working at all). If I find anything worth paying that is too expensive to me I'll let you know.

Where did you see game 7 against Hawks?

Well if legit, I would say any good matchup. Say vs Nate Thurmond, some Wes Unsled or more Knicks or vs Kareem footage.

Really any of those or of course against Russell is great, more classic games online with high video quality is always good.

Outside of playoff games, it would be nice to see some high scoring RS games from Wilt. After all, he's one of the best scorers ever and we don't have any high scoring performance on tape...

here's my list of games that I want of Wilt

11/24/1960 Warriors vs Celtics - 55 rebound game against Bill Russell (and possibly 8 blocked shots)
11/19/1961 Warriors vs Packers - Wilt's first game against rookie Bellamy, 51 points and blocks Bellamy's first 8 or 9 shots in the paint
1/13/1962 Warriors vs Packers - 73 points 36 rebounds against Walt Bellamy
3/22/1962 Warriors vs Nationals - 56 points with possibly a dozen blocks, possibly the highest scoring 50 point triple-double in NBA history and playoff history. 6 playoff records were broken this game.
11/16/1962 Warriors vs Knicks - 73 points - I've seen alleged clips of this footage so it should exist
11/25/1966 - I think this is the Wilt dislocating Gus Johnson's shoulder game
1/20/1967 - Sixers vs Lakers - Wilt shoots 15 for 15 from the field en route to a then-record 32 consecutive field goals (spanning 4 games)
2/24/1967 Sixers vs Bullets - Wilt shoots 18 for 18 from the field in the middle of what will eventually set a new NBA record 35 consecutive field goal streak (spanning 4 games) of most shots ever taken without a miss beating his own prior record of 32 set earlier in the season
Technically every single game possible from the 1967 playoff run would be something to be desired because he AVERAGED a triple-double in the entire series vs Cincinnati, THEN averaged a triple-double the entire series against Boston!. He then matched up with prime Nate Thurmond and had a possible quadruple-double against him. He also had a possible quadruple double against Russell that series prior.

The must have games are below: * 3/24/1967 Sixers vs Cincinnati - 19 assists, all-time record of assists by a center in the NBA playoffs * 3/31/1967 Sixers vs Celtics Possible quadruple double playoff game vs Bill Russell (24 points, 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 blocked shots) * 4/5/1967 Sixers vs Celtics - 41 rebounds vs Bill Russell this is the all-time playoff rebounding record * 4/16/1967 Sixers vs Warriors - possible quadruple double (10p, 10a, 38 reb, 10blk) vs Nate Thurmond * 4/24/1967 Sixers vs Warriors - Wilt clinching the Finals game * 2/2/1968 Sixers vs Pistons - 20/20/20 game the only official one in NBA history * 3/18/1968 vs Lakers - 53 points 24 reb 14a, just a dominating game against the Lakers his highest "official" triple double (though unofficially his 56 point game with blocks I listed earlier in his career) * 12/25/1968 Lakers vs Suns - 23 blocked shots against the suns on National television * 1/26/1969 Lakers vs Royals - 60 points - Wilt's 2nd to last 60 point effort probably to silence critics about his scoring ability * 2/09/1969 Lakers vs Suns - 66 points - Wilt's last 60 point effort again probably to silence critics * 5/06/1970 Lakers vs Knicks - 45 points 27 rebounds Wilt's highest Finals scoring game

This is my list for now. of Wilt games that I want

Fun list, good job. I don't think NBA have soany random RS games from that period, but who knows? My personal favorites from 1960s are 1964 WCF and 1965 ECF, but all of your choices are great.

I will tell you one thing 70's fan the NBA has a surprising amount of footage of Wilt in the 1965 regular season they have his first game as a sixer vs Bill Russell and I think his first road game against the Celtics as a 76er. I will dig more for 1964 and 1965 footage of Wilt I don't think they have much of Wilt in the 1963 season where he missed the playoffs they might have a couple of games I will ask because no one mentions 1963 for Wilt and his career and it would be interesting to see where things went wrong for Wilt and the warriors that year.

The one game from Wilt that I probably can't get is the game in 1965 where ike Richman died in the Boston garden when Wilt and Russell were playing each other on national television. Ike's poor wife watched him die on the television she then called Wilt at half time and told him to win the game for her and Ike. Apparently Dolph the coach of the sixers had his head down for the rest of the game after Ike went down. it was about the 6-minute mark where both teams were each on 13 each. Red saw something was wrong with Ike and called for a doctor before he collapsed. The game kept going which i think was wrong and Wilt went nuts in the second half the Sixers beat the Celtics by 17. Wilt had 28 points on 63 percent shooting and 30 rebounds along with 10 blocks. and Wilt held Bill Russell to 6 of 18 from the field Bill shot 33 per cent that game. I wonder why Bill took so many shots that game it is unlike Bill Russell.

Interesting, I can't even imagine where did they find so many games, even random ones. I hope that you'll be able to get as much as possible, but anything will be highly appreciated. I wonder when exactly they decide to share them, if ever.

They have at least this one game from 1962/63 against Knicks when he scored over 70. So this means that NBA have likely at least one game from each Wilt season and in many cases several per season. Who would have thought about it 5 years ago!
