Blazers believe the trio of Lillard, CJ, and Nurkic are contenders. So, to get any of these players would cost a top 10 player. Realistically, Blazers aren't going to trade our core players.

Taurean Prince for Nassir Little and Rodney Hood?

Brooklyn then sends Little and 20th Overall for Jerami Grant?

No chance. The only player in this trade Blazers would want (other than keeping their own) is Jerami Grant. We would definitely trade Hood in a deal for Grant if Grant opts in the final year of his contract. Blazers would actually save money by taking Grant's bigger contract because we could waive Ariza and replace him with Grant. We have no interest in Prince because his contract is too much and he is just a mediocre defender.

CJ McCollum + draft pick for Beal?

Not the best offer the Wizards can get im sure, but they will get a veteran In McCollum + a lottery pick to add to their own lottery pick for a solid core to add to Rui.

Potentially a McCollum, Cole Anthony, + RJ Hampton? Precious? Etc. Wizards get a core of young guys plus Wall & McCollum. Wall can rehab is way back to stardom and be traded down the line to his choice while Cole Anthony or RJ Hampton continue to grow.

Blazers wouldn't trade CJ straight up for Beal. CJ is better and we have him on a good contract.

I think the fans that love trades are going to be real happy this offseason. I believe Olshey is going to be beating the trade bush harder than ever. There will be more teams than normal motivated to make deals because of financial considerations.

That’s a fair point. Is a guy Josh Richardson a good enough fit that Portland would consider a Hood + 14 deal for him?

I believe Richardson would be a very good fit for Blazers, but I don't know if Blazers want his contract. I have doubts that Blazers will guarantee Ariza's $11.8M for just 1 season, so the extra year on Richardson's contract is an issue. I don't believe Blazers would include the 1st round pick. I'm not sure they would do the straight trade because paying Richardson's contract for 2 years is not a better option than Ariza for 1 year. Ariza is a real good fit for Blazers because he provides great length and ball-hawking defense.

Edit: $11M is the unguaranteed portion of Ariza's contract, not $11.8M

Jerami Grant is expected to opt out of his final season. This is a good move for Grant. He will get more money even in a tight market.

The Blazers are good but really need a third option alongside Dame & McCullom. In my eyes, Nurk is a 4th or 5th option on a true contender.

That said, would you do the following deal:
Portland Trailblazers
Trade: Zack Collins + 2020 FRP
Why: The Blazers need shooting help and an upgrade at either forward position. Acquiring a max level forward is not realistic nor makes financial sense for the team.

Chicago Bulls
Trade: Lauri Markkanen
Why: The team needs to stockpile draft picks as they rebuild under new leadership and quality rookie payscale players on roster. They will have to make a huge financial decision on Markennan soon, w/ a roster that's not ready to take the next leap.

Allows Markkanen to compliment Nurkic as the much needed floor spacing forward, while assuming a natural role as a third option. Portland keeps core intact while continuing to develop recent draft picks (Simons/Little).

After the deal, go after a defensive minded wing using the vet's minimum (Mo Harkless/Roberson/Tony Snell (flier), while returning current vets (Ariza/Anthony/Whiteside) on roster.

Thoughts?

No chance on the trade. Blazers wouldn't trade Collins for Markkanen straight up. Markkanen has a better floor game and is probably a better shooter, but none of that is what Blazers want. Blazers want Collins's defense. Collins will be one the best defensive big men in the NBA.

We will take Mo on a veterans minimum. I doubt this will happen. Mo can play, someone will pay him.
