How did Kloby manage to make a statement on this that does not mention the police or murder?

This could be about anything

Jeff Van Gully wrote:that psychopath had joy in his eyes as floyd was dying beneath his knee. murderer.

And what makes it worse is the fact that there is footage/photos of the 3 other officers holding down George Floyd, so there was no reason for the officer to have his knee anywhere near George Floyd's neck.

The officer that had his knee on George Floyd's neck could've easily just used his hand on Floyd's back/shoulder.

For years I’ve kept this bookmarked and too often have I found myself revisiting it to wonder where we could get if the willpower existed to enact big changes. Can’t avoid these situations if we don’t make meaningful changes.

I won't bother watching it. These atrocities hurt too deep inside yo.

No color - many folks of all colors be getting hurt out there and it pains me.

Howdy! I think we just kicked the door in. Conservative Washington Post columnist, Max Boot recently authored this article on the decline of America. This the result of continuing to redistribute money, via one tax cut after another, from the middle class and the poor to the powerful and wealthy who use the military and law enforcement thugs to protect their fascist state. Why do you think all of law enforcement idolize Trump. I think they'd all suck his dick. Really.

Yep, but the real three-card monte trick is getting poor white folk to blame everyone but the wealthy. Sprinkle in a little voter suppression, and this cult of ignorance will lead us down a path of fascism and plutocracy that the country will not return from.

What a waste of a woman. But this is small news in the context of today's events.

The world has turned upside down - how come we're not all falling off?

My guess is that the world has ALREADY BEEN upside down but the advent of camera phones have made it difficult to shroud the truth.

And the shame is effective...for a while...but there will be a backlash IMO. Because a lot of people like it the way it is(otherwise it wouldn't be that way). Those same people don't like taking "L's".

Absolutely. For those of us that do care - the tape helps a lot to fight the right fights and help suss out the bad faith arguments are. Don't need to deep dive into court proceedings when you can see the killing. If there hadn't been tape of the Arbery killing there would have been no chance for consequences.

Camera phones are making the capture of things like this more prevalent, but only when it is blatant.

For example, the woman in the Central Park video was a VP at an investment banking firm before she was fired. How many people reported to her? How many people of color has she passed over in interviews, or didn't promote, or didn't trust with major accounts because of implicit biases she carried?

That is the indignity and corrosion that happens every day that we will never be able to analyze in a clip, and it contributes to the larger incidents.

What's insane to me about the Arbery video is that it was captured by a guy who participated in the manhunt, and then given to a lawyer because those 3 men strongly believed it exonerated them of any wrongdoing.

Those men live in a society where what they did was interpreted as
a.) their duty
b.) self-defense

That's the problem we'll never get our hands around

Agreed with all. I'm mostly responding in agreement to the talking point Rhodey addressed; the idea that the captures show that things are getting worse. They are capturing what has been happening all along.

They need to remake the OX-BOW INCIDENT (which was tangentially about the Southern Jim Crow Lynchings though set as a western).

Instead of Rustlers, they'd be after black folk this time. Only this time they'd realize the black guys are innocent but hang them anyway to protect their own asses. Throw in a few Lindsay Graham type fretting weasels and a Trump-like landowner protecting his guilty cowardly son-in-law by putting a rape or something on the wanted men

And in the finale, show the town making them out to be heroes with a parade. (Covered by Fox News).

Potential spoiler about the film Get Out if you haven't seen it

Spoiler:
Isn't that essentially how Get Out was supposed to end before the focus groups told them it was way too depressing?

Why didn’t someone get some mace, a baseball bat, a tire iron, or a gun and let that cop and his partner have it? Just kill them. I swear on my life I would not have just stood their and watched that cop murder Mr. Fliyd. If you don’t believe me, that’s ok.

Edit: I think I should probably apologize for the above post. I'm not trying to disrespect those who were there at the scene who had did not attack the police. That's their town and they grew up dealing with those police officers. They had their own experiences and were "in the moment," as it were. I was not. That said, I'm 62, not a young man with a whole lifetime in front of me. All I'm saying is I wish I was there because I don't really give a fck. I'll challenge a police officer.

They should prosecute the people who fake these, I am no photoshop expert so maybe someone else can confirm. I did see from the original post of those on twitter some people going back and forth about it being fake or not. "Someone sent this to me before the cop deleted it from his facebook!"

What kind of society is this? This is as bad as in very powerful dystopias.

We need to change. Here on Long Island, there was a report in Newsday that 50%+ of the incidents responded to my officers were traffic-related offenses. These officers out here make beaucoup bucks, like $150,000/year and more. They don't do chit. Why are we spending so much money on traffic citations/accidents? Why not have less costly, more efficient, non-threatening/non-armed traffic officers. who have quick access to specialized/armed back-up units, for the routine traffic violation? The County could save so much money right there.
