This whole COVID-19 thing, may have the added affect of having the NBA look harder at Expanding to 32 teams.
If for nothing, than to get the added revenue.

If seeding is regardless of standing in conference, then we still get the Sixers in the 1st round (Pacers win head-to-head tiebreaker against Sixers).

1-16: Bucks vs. Magic
2-15: Lakers vs. Nets
3-14: Raptors vs. Grizzlies
4-13: Clippers vs. Mavericks
5-12: Celtics vs. Sixers
6-11: Nuggets vs. Pacers
7-10: Jazz vs. Rockets
8-9: Heat vs. Thunder

EDIT: LOL then most likely Clippers in the 2nd round.

So playoff draw would be Sixers >>> Clippers >>> Bucks >>> Lakers/Raptors?

Only seems fair that the team with the 5th best record would have to beat the three best teams to win a title.

**** that, lol.

So it looks like it will either be the Top 10 seeds or Top 11 seeds, per Conference.
Beyond that, no one really has much of a chance.

I wonder how they'll play it?
Maybe just get the remaining teams to 70 games; and then seed from there?

I liked that 20 teams FIBA-type tournament. Just to decide the Top 8 teams.
They could do 2 Divisions of 5, in each Conference. Top 2 in each Division advances.

But what the hell. Whatever works. Let's just get to it.
And what's with the End of July??? -- Why not the end of June?

They will do anything to get Zion in, so obvious.

My hopes are not high for great fair basketball but I am open minded.......I guess.

Thank God. I'm not gonna hijack this thread so please don't follow me down this path but I am heart-breakingly, hopelessly in need of basketball right now. I don't even care how bad the games are, how rusty the players are. Thank you to Adam Silver for being such a stand-up guy and coordinating so well with NBA owners and Chris Paul to get us to this point. Because we need it. I need it.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I might be in the minority but their talking about an early August start (could be later) & starting the next season on Christmas Day which just ends up mucking up the schedule for next year anyway. With all the stuff that’s still continuing in America right now & the fact that if we do return in August it will be 5 months since they stopped playing I just find it absolutely ridiculous as to why we wouldn’t just wait 2 months & have a full season ?
From missing 5 months of basketball where a lot of players couldn’t train for a good portion of it to go straight into the playoffs is just asking for injuries that wouldn’t usually occur.
Most players right now don’t even have basketball on their mind right now anyway so why not just wait ? A lot of people are saying we need to crown a champion this season but is it really this season anymore after such a long time out ? Don’t think the NBA will do anything it can to get Lebron another ring ? not only for ratings but the narrative that they’d love to portray after all the events this year ? If you don’t think they’d do it just look back at the game 6 of the 2002 WCF. Knowing how much money they’ve already lost would it really surprise anyone if they did anything to make this happen ?

I get I might be reaching but restarting the season this late just doesn’t feel right.

If this comes true, then it means that beyond the top 8 seeds, in each Conference.
5 more teams from the West, and only the Wizards from the East, will be in the "Tournament".

Any chance that Memphis gets bumped out of the playoffs under this plan?

$$$$$$$$$$ vs $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I tend to agree, but I'll watch if they do it.

Yes, that's the whole point of having the extra 6 teams

It'd be the first year in 74 that there's no playoffs and championship awarded, if they skip it.
If there's a trophy, there's a chance that we win it.
I'm greedy. Give me that any day over the sanctity of next season being closer to normal length and on a normal schedule.
(note: I think both of those scenarios are very unlikely anyway, I think they're planning for end of July so that there's plenty of time to bail if there's a resurgence of cases over the next two months, which is likely).

Looks like some beef is brewing between De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley. Look at this from Fox in reference to
MB3’s dad:

Tatum/Bagley would be pretty sweet.
