All he has over them is a better combination of commercials. Physically they did a lot more on the court. I know from your post you can only see this as a Lebron Jordan argument. It isn't. I couldn't care less about either.

Jordan has more scoring titles, more Finals MVPs, he was the steals leader 3x, the highest scoring average in the Regular Season, Playoffs, and Finals. All in all, Jordan had around 70 accomplishments while Kareem is around 60. And Jordan's advanced stats dwarfs Kareem.

What Kareem have over Jordan is longevity. Stop while you're only 2 feet down.

I'll repeat, Michael has the biggest argument out of all the GOAT candidates. Insecure fans of other players just don't like to admit that fact.

You ignore rebounding, blocked shots, winning with two organisations all while playing in a non expansion era and through the merger. You can stan all you want. Jordan isn't the only answer for GOAT. But I get it the marketing machine has worked on you. Stay sleep.

If Im a GM/Owner, Id rather win the 100% of the time assuming Im not making the playoffs the other times so i can just stock up on lottery picks and less mileage on the players on my team. If Im a player, probably the win 50% of the time because if you love basketball you'd want to be competing with the best as much as you can.

If I'm a role player, I take as many finals as possible. Bigger career booster.

If I'm one of the stars, I take the perfection. Can always tell others that the team didn't have enough that year. That you'd win it all if you were in the finals all those off years. Being a star comes with the expectation that you take it home when the game is within reach.

eh my thinking is, if im a GM/Owner Id want to put the most marketable team i can put out there. This is why in the past, teams full of very popular and exciting players (Lakers, Bulls, LeBrons teams) have generated more viewership as opposed to teams with less star power like the Spurs or Pistons. You can also make money by having a team full of high profile players and getting bigger tv contracts, having more merchandise sales, more ad revenue because you have a player that people want to see (Luka, Zion, LeBron, etc). Rookie contracts are also a nice value for the team and maybe a good way to avoid luxury tax.

As an example in 18-19, the Spurs were 48-34 and made the playoffs. The Luka-led Mavericks were 33-49 and did not make the playoffs. One team made more than 20 million in revenue than the other. Who do you think made more revenue that year?

As a player, I assume im playing basketball because i love the game not just purely for money and would still wanna try and compete with my friends. I guess some players might just want to chill at home and do nothing, which is fine too.

As a warrior fan, the 16' and 19' finals runs are as memorable (not favorable) as the the wins in 15', 17' & 18'.

I enjoyed each round leading up, so I guess that puts me in the 'I'd prefer to reach it every year if that means I win ~50%'.

People are framing losing the Finals in the wrong way. Imagine if winning the Finals is a Gold medal and losing means Silver. I would rather have 5 Golds and 5 Silvers than 5 Golds.

Horrible analogy. Last I checked all those people with silver medals actually have silver medals. The team that LOSES the NBA finals gets the exact same hardware as the team that finishes dead last in the regular season. I.e. NOTHING NADA ZIP.
