Revamped Playoffs Discussion

Post#1 » by BigUps » Wed Jun 3, 2020 4:39 pm

Its not finalized, but when Woj tweets it, you know its pretty damn close to finalized. We're obviously not in the playoff or play-in games. If passed, our season is officially over. While that hurts a little, it was a brutal season to endure in every way imaginable. At least we end with new leadership and a positive spotlight on us after the country was gripped by The Last Dance.

With that said, I have to admit, I'm really excited about this format. This is what many of us have wanted, a March Madness like tournament in the NBA. I hope this format works and I hope the NBA leans in on exploring how to potentially do this long term if it does work.

Will John Wall play? What's the health status of various Blazers guys?

I was upset at reading the initial headline, but the system is well done. I still would watch Bulls if they were just doing exhibition type games in a losers bracket. Oh well

A bit of a loss for teams that don't get more time to evaluate and groom their young players, but not enough games and not enough time that I think it really matters.

I'll probably be psyched to watch the NBA every day though. I'll set all the games to record on youtube TV and just watch them throughout the next day.

This solution is so lame. Really hoped they would go for something more creative here.

With that being said, I still can't wait. I just want basketball back.

I wish they'd do a loser bracket as a substitute for the lottery just this year. It's the best opportunity they'd ever have to test something like that out.

100%. Can't start like 3 weeks after game 7 of the finals.

If this is true, how many days after approval are we expecting Jim to get the axe?

I want basketball,I just hate that this tramples on next season.

It's like 2 seasons get ruined instead of just one.

I get why they are doing it, it will be fun once it starts.
Meaningfull NBA in August/Sept when we're not used to it.
I do recall listening to Bulls Playoff with Jim Durham by the fire on the AM while camping at Deer Creek back in '91....

Crisis creates opportunity, Windhurst said that early on and it has stuck in my head.

Who wins it?

It should be ripe for the picking for a bunch of teams.
Like if Embiid stayed in shape and goes on a terror and Gianna is now healthy

Rest is huge for both Lakers and Clippers - esp Clippers since PG and Khawi were for sure hurt

and picks for a sleeper team that goes on a run?
Oladipo should be healthy

PLAYOFF LUKA's cool hand is healed I bet.... :onfire:

They better set this up for maximum Lakers v Clippers

Why not do a loser bracket were teams play for lottery position?

I'm excited especially after baseball is fumbling this whole issue.

First of all why so late(July 31) and why will this take 2 months into October? I thought they were going to try to do this as fast as possible. They should of started now mid June and finish end of July/August. Then restart next season in November.

Sounds cool but why would players care to win this? I guess only way would be if teams gave a nice money prize for the winner, that’s the only way the players would compete.

Let’s not forget though at the end of the season you got players who are becoming free agents so why play hard for that teams pick? There’s guys who just want to get the hell out of there for vacation and then there’s the guys who don’t want to get replaced by the top pick rookie.

This draft system would be a lot better than what they are doing now that’s for sure.

No Bulls basketball. This sucks. Absolutely sucks. The NBA should compensate our franchise and its fans by guaranteeing a higher pick in the draft. Likewise the other teams/fans that the NBA has decided aren't relevant enough to play/watch.

Actually prefer no Bulls basketall bc coaching change hasnt been made. Even if they hired all time Great its too late to do something special this season.

This is why I wanted boy fired bc they could announce anytime soon and obv seasons not cancelled in case they can play.
Lamelo will be a future superstar Bull. Book it. Lavar for president!

So all said and done we will have been off for 9-10 months. Hope our guys like OPJ, WCJ, and Lauri aren’t injured by then if they are still on the roster.

It's possible that they were waiting to see what will happen to the rest of this season. Now they can move on and fire Boylen.

Return to Chicago Bulls
