So our 8 game schedule would be:

Dallas
Clippers
Dallas
Pacers
Wizards
Philly
Miami
OKC

Not really favorable for us.

This is kinda strange. We'd have to go 8-0, and we'd still probably not get in. Can't have just 8 games when your criteria is teams who were 6 games off a playoff spot. Might as well have just gone with 20 teams instead of 22.

We're just going to be fodder for the rest of the playoff teams with no real motivation for any of our players.

Not that I'm saying that we deserved a shot at the playoffs with our record, but this kinda seems pointless.

You're right on all accounts but I hope they do actually take it seriously because they are a young team that can use this to build for next year and evaluate needs this off-season.

One good example is the Rubio, Booker, bridges, oubre, ayton 5 man lineup has really good numbers, this gives another 8 games to see that against good competition. If it continues to perform then no reason to change that up going into next year.

It is unlikely but we really just need to gain 2 and half games on the teams in front of us to get play in vs Memphis

It's going to be such a weird atmosphere. On the one hand it will feel like watching summer league due to empty arenas. On the other, "win or go home" means even more when you've been stuck at home in lock-down for three months. I know if you put me out there right now and told me if I lose I can't play basketball with other humans until December, I'd play the game of my life!

And I'm pretty scared of an injury.

The Suns pretty much have to go 8-0. If they lose an early game or 2 then it'll be time to tank!

It's a longshot but not any worse of a shot than if the season had continued as normal

Of course the season had to be suspended just before the Mavs game (8pm in my region) I was looking forward for some time to watch 'live'. Two games against Doncic, still some fun to come out of this strange season.

There's only one right time to tank:

Should still be a good experience if we can get some games with everyone healthy. Knowing our luck Booker will test positive the day before our first game

Any idea if Papi has any chance to play?

Well, that's a fairly jam packed schedule of NBA stuff. Free agency 3 days after draft and then new season 12/01. Very cool.

Of the remaining teams invited to Orlando, the San Antonio Spurs (1,000-1), Washington Wizards (1,000-1) and Sacramento Kings (2,000-1) have the longest odds. Per ESPN

We have better odds to win than the Spurs? What?!

Hi everyone. Been awhile. Hope you’re all doing alright. Crazy times :o

Happy to see the 19-20 season is going to resolved. Something like what I’m about to suggest may happen, as I know the plan to restart isn’t exactly set in stone, so ...

I’d like to see all the returning teams play a handful of exhibition games perhaps starting in the middle of July. At the very least, it could give the league an opportunity to see how best to present (mostly) empty venue games to the public. They could “try some things” before the true launch.

The soundscape of these games is going to be a major component as to whether these games “feel right”. Maybe, hopefully, some beta games will be part of the plan.

Stay healthy

Killer news!

We're locked into our lottery odds but still have a "chance" to make the playoffs!

Do we have a shot? Not really. But it will be a great experience for our guys!

At first I was pretty upset that we basically have to play perfect and even then need other teams to lose if we want to make the play-in game. But honestly it seems fair given that we were just as unlikely to make the playoffs during the normal season. Getting some quality wins on this big of a stage and our guys balling out can be critical for development and setting us up for free agency. We never really had a clear idea of what this team was supposed to be so we should learn a lot even in just 8 games.
