Dillon will be given every chance to show we can let Jones go.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Entirely depends on the money but yeah, my philosophy has been and continues to be that you almost never hand out 2nd contracts to RB's. It's just not feasible these days in a passing league.

Do you post from a microwave or potato? Curious what device you use that is void of all punctuation buttons. People using Nokia phones that have that awesome snake game use more commas and periods than you. Not trying to go all grammar police but it's hard to read your posts bro (I'm aware that this post doesn't have perfect punctuation but it is an example of using internet shorthand).

Zimmer is good at coaching up guys, but they will drop off a bit this year.

They are undoubtedly weaker. Cousins has bilked them for more guaranteed money, I expect him to fall off as well.
I wanna bilk some money out of someone.
humanrefutation wrote:I think Jones might be one of those few RBs for whom a reasonably-priced extension makes sense - he doesn't have a lot of mileage on him yet.
And in theory, Dillon should help limit wear and tear on him and allow us to use him in creative ways to get the ball in his hands in ways other than handing it to him. I have no science behind this, but it makes sense to me that catching the ball down field or getting it in space more often and getting tackled by the secondary should result in less damage to the body than 4-5 yard run plays where a DL or LB is tackling and landing on him. Does that make sense?
Either way, I love the potential of a thunder and lightning of those two AJs.

I do too.

We ride Rodgers hard, can you imagine if Cousins was our QB? Dude just crumbles under pressure, and has a wet noodle for an arm. They're giving him how much more guaranteed because of 1 good pass against the Saints? $66M. Wow.

There's a topic for a graduate thesis..... Which hit has more kinetic energy at point of impact: a 300lb DL moving at 7/8th's speed vs a 195lb DB moving at full speed? Then, throw in the variables of the angle of pursuit: head-on vs chase, and add in an LB hitting as well. Some Kinesthesiologist with mathematical bent will make his/her fortune.

Good move, also makes him more tradeable as well. OL is pretty deep this season. Lot's of good competition and lots of good developmental guys. I like it.
I'll throw out something crazy, wonder if they may actually end up considering trading Linsley, slide Jenkins over to C and let everyone battle it out for the rest of the spots.

What is a reasonable return for Linsley, given it's his contract year?

Great question. Starting centers are traded so rarely, the closest thing I can think of is Max Unger and a 1st being traded for Jimmy Graham and a 5th when Jimmy was still considered a star player.
So for discussion, let's say we were trying to trade for Odell Beckham...ignoring salary cap, something like Linsley, Lane Taylor, 2nd round pick for Odell.
Or Linsley for OJ Howard and a pick. Maybe Linsley gets you a Christian Kirk level player? Hard to say.
If I am trading him straight up for a pick, I'm probably not doing it unless I get a third round pick out of the deal. Would be nice to have a little extra ammo in case this supplemental draft ends up being loaded.

This would really suck if things go wrong. He was on track to be a top WR taken for the 2021 Draft.

That's awful. Isn't that similar to what ended sterling sharpes and others careers?Matches Malone wrote:This would really suck if things go wrong. He was on track to be a top WR taken for the 2021 Draft.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Re: Packers 2020 Offseason Thread - Packers Talking Extension with Aaron Jones
The Green Bay Packers announced changes to their player personnel department. The announcement was made Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Demetri Goodson has been promoted to college scout covering the Midlands region after spending last season as a scouting intern for the Packers. He was originally drafted by Green Bay in the sixth round (No. 197 overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Baylor. In four seasons with the Packers, Goodson played in 26 regular-season games with three starts and appeared in two postseason contests. The former basketball player at Gonzaga (2008-11) also spent some time on the New Orleans Saints' roster in 2018.
Brandian Ross (first name pronounced Brandon), who spent the last two years as a college scout covering the Midlands region for the Packers, will now scout the Southwest region. He joined the Packers' personnel department in 2017 as a scouting intern and then was a scouting assistant before being promoted to college scout in May 2018. The former defensive back originally signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and spent time on the Packers' practice squad during the 2011-12 seasons. From 2012-15, Ross played in 45 games with 24 starts for the Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins.

I've often thought that college scouts can do most of their work watching video, there isn't much you see in person vs. video but a Packer scout, or maybe it was Gute, said one reason they loved Dillon so much is they saw what he could do catching passes in practice even though they rarely threw to him in games. That's the stuff you see in person.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

How much face-to-face discussion can the scouts have with college players or their coaches?
