President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Gotta give credit to another Republican - who showed integrity - after Mike Esper realized Barr and Trump were trying to politically manipulate him, he stepped up and wouldn't go along.

Yeah my wife and I are in the same boat (too wimpy to protest), we'll have to contribute to a bail fund instead :/

You guys aren’t wimps at all. The risk from coronavirus is real. There are many ways to support the protestors. Your family’s health and safety should be first.

Glad I went - I will post something about it later in the True story, swear to gawd... (prose and cons) thread...

Here we go.....

The best thing for the R party is to completely implode and rebuild itself from the ground up...

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

He goes on to contrast the American ethos of unity with Nazi ideology. “Instructions given by the military departments to our troops before the Normandy invasion reminded soldiers that ‘The Nazi slogan for destroying us … was “Divide and Conquer.” Our American answer is “In Union there is Strength.”’ We must summon that unity to surmount this crisis—confident that we are better than our politics.”

A handful of Republicans criticized Mr. Trump's behavior. Senator Lisa Murkowski told reporters that "I did not think that what we saw last night was the America that I know."

Then you also have morons like Tom Cotton in AR.

Antonia was down at the Capital yesterday.

I plan to attend a protest in Reston tomorrow.

To catch Trump off-guard, I wonder if it makes sense to move protests to in front of Trump buildings all over the country. There's one at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave, NW.

"Are you a foreign lobbyist or Secret Service?"
"No, but I did stay at the Trump International at $1500 a night."

The instagram feed Washingtonianprobs has footage of the protest outside the Trump Hotel where thousands took a knee shouting "Black Lives Matter".

Also beautiful moments of songs, thousands singing Lean On Me. Or laying on their backs filling the street from horizon to horizon, shouting in unison "I can't breathe".

And there is a plan for Trumps birthday (June 14 I think) to flood all his social media with pictures of Obama, just to troll him.

Love the unity and spontaneous acts of joyful rebellion, as well as thought and organization. Hopefully this is more than a moment, but a movement.

Exactly. I'm "struggling" not to call her a disingenuous clown. Gosh, it's so hard to think this through. Should I vote for the worst President ever and the worst American of our era? Golly gee, whatever should I do?
