I get that but if you're good with using the big f word to describe this regime (and I agree) then like it or not much of the world is going to stand against it in a big and bold way and quite frankly we might need all the help and support we can get, so if they want to chuck a bottle I am right there with them in solidarity. The scariest part about all of this is how normalized it all has become to everybody when we are so far gone from what ever should have been acceptable

I'm just being real with you when I say I don't really know what you mean. This is not Spain after Francisco Franco consolidated power. This is not Italy after Benito Mussolini consolidated power. This is not Russia after Stalin purged the Trotskyites and consolidated power.

This is the U.S.A. on the edge of systemic breakdown, but still with workable systems of counteraction leading up to our still intact right to vote and usher in a reversal of fortune and a new regime.

You throw bombs when there is no longer any hope of systemic change without violence. We are by no means at at that point unless people chew cud like docile cows who stupidly believe there is no difference between parties and don't vote or if they're a blithering idiot like Krystall Ball who threatens to withhold their support because they're so maddddddddd. I have no sympathy for anyone who is willing to justify four more years of this because nobody is good enough for them. Now is not the time to throw bombs. This is the time to demonstrate the power of the people with overwhelming displays of peaceful force.

I'd like to point out that this line of discussion started because I said "oopah!" which I'll say every time something about Greek people is mentioned.
Just clarifying. :D

But we need to talk about Jesus's spokesperson for old white people denouncing Trump. I mean, ho-lee-f*ck.

https://deadline.com/2020/06/pat-robertson-donald-trump-troops-against-protesters-it-isnt-cool-1202949837/

In what has to be among the oddest recent moments on The 700 Club, host Pat Robertson today called out President Donald Trump’s vow to use the military to quell protests around the country. Watch the clip below.

“He issued a heads-up,” Robertson said on-air of Trump — a man the nonagenarian host has supported for years. “He said, ‘I’m ready to send in military troops if the nation’s governors don’t act to quell the violence that has rocked American cities.’ As a matter of fact, he spoke of them as being ‘jerks.’ You just don’t do that, Mr. President.”

That's terrible. In Asheville, of all places.

There is going to be a reckoning for many police chiefs and police unions coming.

People will keep documenting and there will be prosecutions of some of these activities.

Another reason to sweep out the GOP so they can't stack the courts with bigots anymore than they already have. We're going to need a functioning judicial system to handle the legal blowback coming in 2021.

And James Mattis, though that felt like just a matter of time.

Mattis had a scathing description of Trump’s walk to a historic nearby church Monday to pose with a Bible after law enforcement forcibly cleared Lafayette Park of mostly peaceful protesters.

He said he never dreamed troops “would be ordered under any circumstance to violate the Constitutional rights of their fellow citizens — much less to provide a bizarre photo op for the elected commander-in-chief, with military leadership standing alongside.”

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people —does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us,” Mattis wrote in a statement published by The Atlantic. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership.”

Mattis called on Americans to “unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

Mattis said of the protesters that Americans should not be distracted by a small number of lawbreakers. He said they are rightly demanding that the country follow the words of “Equal Justice Under Law” that are on display at the U.S. Supreme Court.

“The protests are defined by tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values — our values as people and our values as a nation,” Mattis said.

You know, I instantly saw a Trumpster say "Mattis is a Clintonite". I'd laugh, if it wasn't so pathetic.

Pat Robertson is a wholly political creature. He's hedging his bets on Trump now. I wouldn't credit him with doing anything for the right reasons.

Damn, that's got to be some kind of record.

Who's next, Joel Osteen?
I figure he's got an anti Trump screed coming out, just putting the finishing touches on monetizing it.

I think he'll retain his hold on nazis and hindu nationalists, but his grip on the conservative wing of the Girl Scouts of America is looking tenuous

Trump weighs in on Pat Roberston and General Jim Mattis:

Via Twitter:

Trump, on Pat Robertson: "I never thought Pat Robertson was a good spokesperson for Jesus. Not like Paula White. Isn't Paula White hot? Not like Pat. Who'd want to see Pat naked? Not me. You have to sell Jesus, I know, I'm a businessman. No one sells Jesus better than me. Being hot sells Jesus."

Trump, regarding Mattis: "I like generals. I have the best generals. Especially marine generals. Mattis was a marine. I thought he was tough. But then he wasn't. He was weak. He wanted to hug Kurds. Kurds suck. They aren't tough. Like my new generals who replaced weak Mattis. Where's my KFC? That's good chicken. Made by a colonel. It would be better if it was made by a general. What general makes chicken? General Tso? That's a chinese general. They are very bad. Except for the deals they give Ivanka. I make the best deals."

"Staffers at The New York Times are in open revolt Wednesday after the paper’s opinion section ran a column from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) calling upon President Donald Trump to “send in the troops” in response to nationwide protests against police brutality.

In a column titled “Tom Cotton: Send in the Troops,” the notoriously hawkish, pro-Trump senator called upon the president to mobilize the military to shut down protests across most major U.S. cities, despite the objections of both local officials and Trump’s own defense secretary.

In response, dozens of Times staffers began tweeting the same message, alongside an image of the headline: “Running this puts Black @NYTimes staff in danger.”

Among those tweeting in solidarity were a diverse swath of editorial and production staffers, including restaurant critics, art and graphics producers, travel, style and culture reporters, tech writers, and Times opinion writers like Roxane Gay.

“Surreal and horrifying to wake up on the morning of June 4 - the 31st anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown - to this headline,” wrote Times China correspondent Amy Qin."

The NY Times in recent years has been suffering under the delusion that aholes are entitled to equal footing in their opinion pages. It is the worst kind of mealy minded non-commital egalitarianism and it effectively neuters them as a serious news organization.

The non-thinking portion of the public may believe this policy is democratic, but it's not about free speech. No media outlet is required to give creeps a platform. The only legal obligation is when you take paid political ads you need to give the opponents equal time. Totally different.

I still read it. It still has good stuff. It sometimes has good investigative reporting, but it also has atrocious reporting too. It is a shell of its former self journalistically speaking. I grew up with Times reporters and editors and I have a friend who still works for the NY Times peripherally. It's a shame.

If you can afford 22 minutes of your life, watch this.

This was yesterday in Philly

This looks like a president to me.

If you can't, then zip it with the fake Joe Biden is senile memes. You don't deserve to be heard with your put-downs if you can't give Biden the time of day.
