dckingsfan wrote:The best thing for the R party is to completely implode and rebuild itself from the ground up...

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

He goes on to contrast the American ethos of unity with Nazi ideology. “Instructions given by the military departments to our troops before the Normandy invasion reminded soldiers that ‘The Nazi slogan for destroying us … was “Divide and Conquer.” Our American answer is “In Union there is Strength.”’ We must summon that unity to surmount this crisis—confident that we are better than our politics.”

Best thing would be to split it into two separate political parties. ;)

Rebuilding from the ground up will simply result in more of the same. It didn't end up this way by accident. The ingredients were all extremely clear. Trump was purely symptom, not cause, he's just a particularly problematic symptom. Fake, tempered criticisms of Trump (not all of them are, but certainly a fair few) are more attempts to go back to the same old which will ultimately result in another Trump at some point. The real criticisms need to be levied even more broadly than the Republican Party, to be honest, and those have been extremely limited. I can't believe how long it's taken for so many to slowly start realizing that the police are a problem as a unit and trying to suggest there are just a handful of bad applies is entirely out of line.

We can laugh this off as him needing yet another diaper change, but he's sending a message to every Republican who defies him. Question is - Why would any party put up with that? It's either because they're cowards, or they have no integrity.

Oh yeah, give the baby another diaper change.

And in 2 years, I wouldn't bet on him having a pulse.

Naaaaaaaate

The FBI has collected no intelligence indicating that "antifa" was involved in violence over the weekend related to protests over the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died on May 25 after a white police officer in Minneapolis knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, The Nation reported.

The FBI report listed a series of violent acts including instances of bricks being thrown at police officers and a backpack that contained explosives. But based on "CHS [Confidential Human Source] canvassing, open source/social media partner engagement, and liaison," the bureau had no evidence that those acts were directly linked to antifa, The Nation said.

But the FBI's report did warn that people associated with a far-right social-media group had "called for far-right provocateurs to attack federal agents" and "use automatic weapons against protesters."

And when ya think it through, how would any so-called antifa group benefit by participating in any acts of violence? It'd be a nonsensical strategy.

Trump is two things:

1. He's the tool of the Koch Brothers, et. al. -- the whole "starve the beast" coalition. This power elite has already, & successfully (for the moment), destroyed the Republican party, which over time represented the point off view of some meaningful part of the US population. I.e. it was an actual movement from within the populace. It's no longer that. Now it is simply an ideological tool -- more like the Bolshevik party or the National Socialist party (i.e. Nazis) -- designed to create a revolution.

2. He's a demagogue -- about as perfect an example of one as you can find. More like Mussolini than any other 20th century example. The usual path of demagogues is a) surprising victory, then some other stuff & then finally z) strung up then cut down & his body dragged through the streets. Trump's body won't be dragged through the streets, but he will suffer this kind of fall -- as soon as (see above) he's no longer useful to the Koch Brothers, etc.

Ridding ourselves of Trump won't be all that hard. Ridding ourselves of the repellent elite I mention above will be hard indeed! You have to hope it can be done at all.

Of course Nate won’t respond to this.

LOL. One guy, probably in Europe (where Evropa is based) starts a new fake Twitter account (which presumably had virtually no followers) and makes a tweet and THAT'S how you're going to tie all this rioting and looting to a white supremacist movement? This is all the evidence you have? At least find me one protester on the ground, or better yet, one guy committing actual violence, that is part of a white supremacist movement.

The Minneapolis mayor implied that nearly all of those arrested were out-of-town white supremacist agitators and you come up with a single tweet from a random guy with a new Twitter account.

Thing is, Antifa isn't a "group," & it doesn't create "strategy." All it wants to do is create a kind of anarchist chaos as a riposte to "Fascism." I.e. more dada than revolutionary.

Overall, IMO, it's stupid & meaningless. By its nature it can't scale -- thus, also, it won't ever be an effective political opposition.

Senator Mike Lee from Utah just said Bowser's ordered the Utah National Guard out of all DC hotels. He said "this is unacceptable". I say "What in the f are they doing there in the first place?" Good job by Mayor Bowser!

The horrible things that have happened in Austin, TX and Wilmington, NC better not happen in DC. There's a gdf lack of leadership in this country, and too many unacceptable things are happening.

Here's a positive post. Instead of cussing out the police and demand their abolition, imagine the alternative to replace them.
