It depends. Some are not cut out for because they have shorts fuses. Others are just flat out racists, like my cousin who used to be a cop in Delray Beach, Florida, who fired for his racist beating of a black suspect he had taken into custody. His brother started chit with his black Sgt (I believe he called his Sgt the N-word ... I know). But I digress.

There’s always a huge anti-snitching unwritten policy amongst the officers. If you get caught ratting out a fellow officer, you don’t get back-up. I like to call it The Serpico Rule.

It's a very difficult job in a complicated society - and we need to carefully screen everyone who applies for racist, violent, controlling tendencies, and then re-screen after they've been on the job for a while. This is a job in which it is likely very easy to become toxic, with that toxicity spilling on to the streets.

There was another angle of the guy who “tripped” and you can head his hear hit the ground. It’s bad.

The department is built on racism and oppression. It’s not surprising that they behave this way. The toxicity is baked into their core. Their behavior will change when the department, and not the taxpayers are liable for the civil suits.

I hate to be so coldly politically cynical, but:

Old white guy
Rust belt city
Gets put on his noggin by the police

Might turn a few of Trump's likely supporters away.

Before you assume all white male rust belt boomers just go for Trump, and certainly a lot will, there's a fairly significant number that voted for Obama before Trump.

Fairly certain he was losing some (operative word) before this video, but feels like this along cost him a thousand votes across several states.

That old man really hit his head hard. And the police barely reacted. What the hell.

And Trump just said that it's a good day for George Floyd because of the jobs numbers.

The least capable and most inappropriate person in the whole country has the most important job in the country (or world perhaps).

70,000 mental health professionals signed this petition declaring

Mental Health Professionals Declare Trump is Mentally Ill And Must Be Removed

https://www.change.org/p/trump-is-mentally-ill-and-must-be-removed?source_location=minibar

We, the undersigned mental health professionals (please state your degree), believe in our professional judgment that Donald Trump manifests a serious mental illness that renders him psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of President of the United States. And we respectfully request he be removed from office, according to article 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

They've been "doing that" (allegedly) for years. The city hires background/security experts to conduct background investigations - allegedly. They make sure all of the applicants submit to a psychological "test" designed to - allegedly - reveal any of those tendencies.

The City of Cleveland hired the officer who shot and killed 12 year old Tamir Rice after that officer got fired from a previous PD. Rice had a toy rifle and was just playing by himself when a white guy called 911 about a suspiciously man holding a rifle/gun and pointing it around at the park. So this officer/murderer, from what I recall of the video, jumps out of the passenger side of the cruiser and guns down Tamir in a New York second. No warnings. No permitter set up asking his to drop his weapon. Nothing. Just fcking murdered this unarmed 12 year old kid.

Turns out that this particular cop was employed by a small town police department from which he was fired. A memo from a senior PD official stated something to the effect that this officer didn't know/understand how to respond to a situation with the appropriate amount of force, that he didn't trust this cop with a gun and that he feared that the cop would kill someone while on duty. Something like that. It's all of record if you want to look it up. The City of Cleveland either never bothered to either seek this obvious and routine information or they did and just didn't care.

He couldn't last 20 seconds without going off script, at least in my understanding of that clip.

The guy has zero empathy and it's disgusting.

He quickly made it about the campaign and himself. As usual. Horrific.

I should have picked this up sooner, and I'm sure people have discussed this over the last 3 years, but Trump's "tells" when he's off script are his hand gestures.

When reading the prepared part, his hands are at his side. The hands start flying when the lies start flying.

The sad part is that he continues to do it because it actually works on a sizable group of the population. He has that group's vote no matter what.

It is important to get people to get out there and vote. I have been preaching this to many friends and family who don't vote, but complain about the state of this country. Many feel that every politician will be the same, but I emphasize that things won't magically fix itself with one election. We need to vote at every level possible in every election.

Thankfuly people are starting to register to vote. Hopefully they show up to cast their votes and it's not just a one time thing. Trump supporters will absolutely go out and vote and we must do the same.

Did these imbeciles actually think that their resignations in protest would stir up public anger at the decision to discipline the assaulting officer (and those who stood by and did nothing to help the injured pedestrian)?

This is how out of touch these clowns are. They are sociopaths. Good riddance.
