Are we the COVID championship dark horse?
Ok, so we know that the season will be resuming next month. The Nets are in playoff position, though our spot is not guaranteed.
We do have a couple of after-burners at our disposal, that could propel us beyond a 1st-round flameout. Those would be Kevin and Kyrie. KD may or may not have ever intended to play for Brooklyn's 19-20 season. BUT, he fully intended to compete for Team USA in the Olympics this summer. Now that that competition has been postponed, and the season resumes about the same time as he would have been playing for USA, I see his return as likely.
Kyrie is a sketchier story. His shoulder surgeries call for a 4- to 6-month recovery, which would have him healthy between mid-July and mid-September. We can hope for an aggressive timeline, but after his previous injury setbacks, we're better off erring on the side of caution. I still believe he can contribute, but it won't be before the postseason.
We're likely going to face the Lakers in the 1st round, IF we make it. So even at full strength, a deep run is not a lock. Still, I'm excited to see us take the floor with all of our players, see how they gel, and see what damage we can do. If nothing else, it should clarify the off-season, who stays, who goes, and who we pursue to make another run next season.

I'm taking a wait and see approach. Too many if, and or but's.
Although I have read that you could make a nice buck odd's wise if we win it all.

We are not going to face the Lakers in the first round, the playoffs are regular format. East vs West happens in the finals.

I stand corrected, I heard talk of eliminating the conference division this postseason, but that turned out not to be the case.
Ok, I like our chances EVEN MORE, to face Toronto or Philly with a rejuvenated Durantula.

Re: Are we the COVID championship dark horse?
It seems like KD is ready to play. It will be over a year by the time the NBA starts.
I don't see why he wouldn't play if he feels he is ready. Especially since the 2021 season will no be delayed until at least Christmas.
Kyrie is more complicated because I have no idea where he is in his recovery.
And if Kyrie can't go, then forget putting KD out there.
But if they can both go, I give us a legit shot at winning the whole thing. This team is good and deep. No team will have proper chemistry or be in much better shape than our guys anyway.

Pooch just reported that KD isn't returning. Pretty definite. No KD probably means no Kyrie.

I wouldn't put too much stock on his report right now, but yeah, it's seeming more and more unlikely.MGrand15 wrote:Pooch just reported that KD isn't returning. Pretty definite. No KD probably means no Kyrie.

I trust Pooch. KDs not coming back.
I'd rather have the draft pick then lose in the First Round and lose the pick.

Their remaining schedule is too hard. I think us is easiest team they going to see. For us though it's about Magic games. If we can beat them both times we pretty much guarantee match up vs Craptors ( which I'd welcome so much ), if not it's Greek one and early vocation. Well I'm still exited to see something beside chaos we having right now.

We will, DC is trash and their schedule is brutal. If they will win a game it'll be against us most likely. Also whoever had any delusion about KD and Kyrie faced reality, they were never coming this year. We don't even have a coach.

KD confirmed it, Pooch was on the ball.
Well, I'm not really hyped because I think we will not be good. LeVert takes too long to get his game in gear and we will still have the same issues that we had before the shutdown. If we end up getting surpassed by Orlando the first round will be an embarrassing show.

As long as the Wiz finish within 4 games there will be play in for the 8th.
We just have to lose both games.
Totally doable since weve already lost to them multiple times this year. I know, I was at both games in DC.

Re: Are we the COVID championship dark horse?
That's assuming that we slip to 8th, and also assuming that Wizards, who are arguably the worst team out of the 22 teams, will have a winning record over 8 games, and manage to beat us in 2 games after that. A whole lot of unlikely assumptions.Hello Brooklyn wrote:[instagram][/instagram]DarkXaero wrote:We aren't slipping into lottery, Wizards are too ****, and far behind.Hello Brooklyn wrote:I trust Pooch. Pooch doesn't mess around with reports.
Disappointing but it is what it is. I'm just excited for some basketball to distract me from the craziness in the world. I think our team is gonna look a lot different next year so this might be our last chance to root for some of the core guys. I'll go to war with Dinwiddie, LeVert, Harris, Kurucs, and Allen any day of the week. Even if we get trashed in the first round.

Re: Are we the COVID championship dark horse?
Kyrie is out too. Might as well with KD not playing.

KD didn't plan on playing until what should've been a November start next season. I'm neither surprised nor angry.
