Your best bet ever

what was your best bet ever? why did you think it would work?

I bet under after Kyrie's knee injury in the finals and it worked. it was a bloodbath, massive under despite the OT.

Basketball:

Years ago can't remember what now, some regular season game between the Raptors and Lakers. LA down big 3rd Q i think. Some x15 on the moneyline i think, Kobe gets hot, leads Lakers to comeback win, my $20 turns to $300.

Tennis:

Accidental live bet on "who's going to win the next serve." i had the intention of going all in my last $50 to win $2 because i was betting on Federer type line (and the favorite was on serve.) And damn it, when i refreshed my pending wagers it was a bet on th underdog unknown 1000th ranked tennis player (i forgot the odds but x 20, x 30 makes sense?). The Federer favorite (not exactly Fed but some other ranked player) actually lost that serve. My accidental all-in won and i survived that day (this type of betting, might have lost it same week too :D)
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

Won $900 on a $3 buy on Fanduel a few seasons ago. I needed a punt and picked Vince Carter because I've always liked him. He ended up having a solid game off the bench and sank a 3 in garbage time at the buzzer which skyrocketed me into 1st.

Hit jackpot w/ a Benji stamped on a $1 superfecta w/ a 40:1 keyed to win taking it by a photo finish all 3 trailers in order within 1 foot or eachother. Holy Fn **** I lost my mind.
Then I blew half the bag over the next 20 days of rooftop partying before I sobered up enough & had the tab tallied...oops
I could have been investing that loot but no no no not me baby.
I also spent I would guess no less than 1000 days at the tracks off an on for 10 years and never had the same luck. I walked away from it.

I bet in the '98 WC that strikers won't score. An odds was 1.8 to 2, Bierhoff was one of them. (I think it should have been below 1.6.) I combined 3 or 4 of these with 1 or 2 safe bets. (I had to combine at least 5.) it worked: the odds was over 30.

Didnt put the bet on this put I gave my friend three clues on games. Dont remember the other two (they were low risk and medium risk) but the game that failed my clues was Golden State-Utah. I think it was in 2017 so Hayward was in the Jazz and KD was in GS. I said it would be high risk high reward and should bet Utah. Utah ended up losing to a last second buzzer beater

Coach Bud to win coach of the year for the Hawks in 2014/15. Odds were 250/1

I bet like 25.47 and won almost 6,400.

Created a long thread on covers.com detailing my reasoning and many posters bet with me.

What a ride that season was. Ended up winning like 10k on the Hawks. Won 2k in them winning the SE conference. Won a good bit on their win over/under. Only bet I lost was a $35 bet for them to win the eastern conference.

Bet $110 at +2250 on the Suns winning the title this year(not yet completed). I saw them as the most complete team and thought that they would beat the Lakers. That’s basically it.

But biggest win was a $200 preseason bet on the 2007-08 Celtics at +1000. I (again)thought they had a more complete team than the other favourites at the time, and I was expecting them to mesh well based on their play styles. Wasn’t expecting their defence to be as good as it was, but that’s all the better for me

This year I was super confident Thibs would turn us around on Defense so I put $777 on NY just making the playoffs @ +1400 odds and won back $11,655.

Sadly I'll never catch THOSE +1400 odds again.

This year I'm taking that same $777 and picking Knicks to make it out the 1st round which would be another big + payout but just making the playoffs won't be good enough anymore to really get paid.

Back in 2015 I went on a mini run. $17 on NCAA 8 pick for $2,222, the next week put that $300 on a 3 team parlay for $2,000+ and the next week another 8 pick $17.00 for $1200+ (shaved off a lot of points).

I never hit again on PARLAYS like that. Ever. Those were my only 8 picks I ever hit and I try every Football season.

2020-2021 $777 for $11k was my biggest hit I'll probably ever win.

I generally don't bet but had a free $5 bet from BetMGM so bet Jokic would win MVP before the season. He odds seemed really low for a guy who was primed for a triple double any given night. Won $130.

Bet Greece to win Euros 40:1 odds, just because my soccer team had a lot of Greeks. $10 to $400.

Won a 6 game parlay this year with the first round of the NFL playoffs, called all 6 games right. That was a sick $570 payout on like a $25 bet.

Had Trump +200 to win the re-election for $1000, placed the bet sometime in early 2019. Then before, and on election night, the odds went the other way in my favour, so I cashed out $1500 early, then bet the $1500 on Biden to win, walked away with about $2k profit on election night, that was pretty sweet.

NBA

We hit a bunch of Rockets 1st Quarter/1st Half bets in either 2017 or 18 in November before the books got smart about how many 3's they were shooting.

NFL

Bengals @ Lions 2005 Bengals -7.5

The Bengals needed to win this game to win the AFC North. As a Bengals fan, the fact that we always lived life as Charlie Brown trying to kick a FG and Lucy would pull the ball out from under them kept me from being happy of winning $100 versus a real life changing amount of money. The Lions were real bad and the Bengals were real hungry to win the division. They won 41-17.

Gary Woodland EVEN v. Tiger Woods

This was in 2016 I believe and definitely in Saudi or UAE. Between Tiger's sporadic schedule and the long flight I knew this was a bet to make. Probably have won at higher odds but this was definitely the biggest risk I've made.

I've won some huge bets, but the amazing ones are the ones where I prayed I would cover hoping for ridiculous things to happen and they did.

A LONG time ago probably my first year gambling I had the Nets +10.5 and they were down 13 with the clock winding down. Derrick Coleman (big guy) dribbles up to the 3 pt line and hits a 3 at the buzzer and they lost by 10.

Then another bet probably the same year I had the opponent against Steve Young and the Niners +13.5, and the Niners scored a td at the end to go up by 13 pending PAT. My friends were crushed, knowing they'd lose by a half point.

This was right when they re-introduced the 2 pt conversion and I said "Who knows? Maybe for practice they go for 2 and miss?" Well, that's exactly what happened and we won by a half point.

My most dominating betting advice though was when I cooled off on the gambling and was at some party on a Friday night and some big bettors were at the party asking me my thoughts on the next day's games. I remember at the time Texas was a 10 point favorite over UCLA, who was 0-2, but UCLA's losses were to very tough teams..I think at least one was a very good SEC team. I think this is when the Longhorns had Major Applewhite.

Anyway, I said "I think Texas is ALWAYS overrated" and UCLA is tough...but just lost their first two games to tough opponents..they will really come out strong wanting to turn it around. I'd take UCLA even at even odds."

Anyway, I didn't bet, but apparently these guys did, and UCLA beat them 66-3, covering the spread by 73. Every time I ran into these guys after that they badgered me on what to bet on.
