Hmm so he is being hired bc the Sixers GM know him not because he is good. I mean hes gotta be better than Boylen? Thats just not possible.

Exciting news. He’s a player development guy from the sounds of it. He had a hand in bringing Kawhi along. Can’t be sure of the Xs and Os until we roll him out there, but this seems like a great hire on paper.
That said, I’m looking forward to hearing what pushed him ahead of Griffin. The Eversley relationship matters I’m sure, but AK and Griffin aren’t exactly strangers.

I like his resume. Ground it out and after going undrafted and had a long professional career. Made it seven years as an assistant on the Spurs, a staff everybody wants a part of. Has been a coach for more than one franchise so he isn’t going to try to be an acolyte. I generally believe with a few exceptions that NBA head coaches are only good for a handful of years before the game changes so this is exactly the type of candidate I was hoping to see.

I watched a few videos of this guy (1)
-- as mentioned, player development. Kahwi Leonard (etc). key trait we need.
-- players might buy in more. he seems likeable (?). I guess it would be hard to downgrade.

He was a Spurs assistant for 7 years and was only in Philly for 1.

I think in the full article it basically said he is 1A and Griffin is 1B. I like Griffin a bit more on paper, but in reality? Who knows.

That's very subjective.

Yeah, I saw. I’m just curious about what gave Udoka the edge. I have no problem with him being in the lead.

My guess is close working relationship with Eversley for now. It's kind of like at your own work, if you worked with a guy for a year and thought he was awesome, and there is some other guy you haven't worked with that has a good resume but you haven't worked with, your bias will be towards the guy you know.

That’s a pretty good bet.

boy, looks like management is tired of being criticized on diversity hiring
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged

So he is a Spurs ex-assistant, wasn't Boylen on the Spurs staff as well before coming here? Having said that, I don't care, just get Boylen out.

Boylen was there for 2 years, but has a wider resume too.
