Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
An off-the-wall longshot possibility for the Bucks is N'faly Dante - 6'11 245 center who played only 12 games. Raw, but great defensive potential - 7'5.5 wingspan and 9'5 standing reach. Was a 5 star HS prospect. Just 18 years old. Not saying I would pick him that high - I wouldn't, but I could see it because of his defensive potential - assuming he stays in the draft.

I know nothing about the guy, but watching a lot of these measurable guys come in and just be useless on their first contract makes me think we would probably be fine plugging the C hole via FA as long as we have Giannis. Not sure I want to develop a guy that if he hits, is probably getting a contract somewhere else once he starts adding wins.

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
So, I know I have mentioned it previously, but wow, does Bane give me the Brogdon vibe. With that said, for you guys that watch and scout a lot of college bball, who do you think is a realistic comp for Bane defensively? Looks like a good team defender, that might struggle with 1s and 2s on ball? Is that a fair thought, or what do you guys think?
Also, digging around a bit, I haven't seen much on his measurables, have you guys seen a reliable wingspan and maybe vert number on him?
There are a ton of guys I haven't even began to read into, but when I think about what rookie that might reasonably be there at our pick, I have a hard time finding a guy that will add more wins than what I think Bane would to this team. Seems like an upgrade, albeit different, from Sterling minutes, and about one year away from taking over the Wes/Korver minutes, maybe?

Danny Green and Eric Gordon come to mind. He can struggle at the POA, but is a stellar team defender. A bit overzealous trying to defend multiple passing lanes simultaneously, which is like saying "my biggest flaw is trying TOO hard at my job".
Wingspan from what I gather is ~6'4.25", which is obviously less than ideal, but he has a reported 8'4" standing reach, which is promising. Very similar measurements to Svi Mykhailiuk. He has some pop vertically, I've seen 41" which seems about right to match the tape.
He's among the best win-now picks to make. Certainly think he would crack the rotation as a rookie. Coach's dream kinda player. Fabulous shooter with a ton of versatility there, good PnR passer which would be fun with Giannis, great attitude, super strong to bully a bit versus smaller guards.

Thanks for that. Yeah, as of now, assuming Vessel and Nesmith are gone, which I think they will be, I like Bane and Bolmaro the most. With Bolmaro I think you have a lot of upside that looks like it hasn't been physically tapped in to yet.

Part of me actually prefers Bane to Nesmith. Nesmith is basically just a volume movement shooter, which is nice, but Bane provides so much more than that as a pull-up shooter and savvy passer, while being better defensively. Debatable though, Nesmith does have better size and is passable as a team defender.
Bolmaro I have highest of the three, but his fit with Giannis would be interesting. Bolmaro loses value when you take the ball out of his hands, which in part means taking the ball out of Giannis' hands. He would be an incredible facilitator though and would create a ton of easy buckets for Giannis and others. Him and Donte on defense would be hilariously awesome.

Have been watching more games recently. One guy I've kind of fallen for who I sort of ignored because of Vassell is Patrick Williams. He's like a combo forward version of Donte. Also Leonard Hamilton is such an underrated college coach.

Chad Ford says he thinks Patrick Williams has lottery talent and the more I watch of him the more I tend to agree. Serious Paul Millsap/Horace Grant vibes.

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
I have mentioned Patrick Williams is my favorite gamble pick. He's extremely raw and possibly a tweener but the athleticism, stregnth, and mid-range game is legit.
Every player I wanted who was mocked at the time in 20s/30s has risen in the draft mocks now out of reach. Nesmith, Vassell, Kira Lewis, and Pat Williams. That leaves me currently with Tyrell Terry., who I do like a lot. Shows the mocks are mostly all following/copying each other and that the late lotto guys that were hyped are falling.

No doubt Williams has a high upside - on defense, but at 18 and raw - I don't see him helping the team his first couple of seasons. He had a very high turnover rate for someone who doesn't create or score a whole lot. No 3 point shot yet - though he could very well in the future - considering he made over 80% of his FT's, but again - it'll likely take a while - he made about 30% of his college 3's. This is a guy you want on his 2nd contract - not so much on his 1st. Ok fine - we could have said the same about Giannis.

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
Yeah complete gamble pick whoever picks Pat Williams. I think he is boom or bust, depending on how bad he wants it. There is no denying how much GMs will covet a quick twitch forward that has brute strength and can hit a 18 foot jumper like a shooting guard, while being one of the youngest in his class. As typically of raw players, his highlights will amaze you while some of his dumb turnovers will leave you unimpressed. And does he have a clear position? He probably gets picked by a team that needs a high ceiling player or has multiple picks.

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
Pat is a pretty clear 4 with hopefully some ability to play down. I think his team defense and rim protection give him a pretty solid floor, I view him as more low risk, high reward than boom/bust.

Also, Isaiah Joe > Aaron Nesmith.
He could be, like, really **** good. His off the dribble game and defense separates him from Nesmith, who has a hitch in his pull-up mechanics and is just a guy on defense. Joe's form is pure regardless of C&S, off movement, off the dribble, step-backs, you name it and he forces turnovers on defense. Get him in the weight room and he could legit be 2nd/3rd banana material.

All would be in my Top-25 if not for Tillie's injury history. Would still consider him late 1st though, he's a really nice player.
