I hope they are doing what they are doing with good intent. I don’t know the conversations behind closed doors. It does seems like it’s stemming from the more well off players based on reports. The main leader is a player that wasnt going to play this year anyway and another that his team wasn’t going to make the playoffs.

Not all NBA players come from a lively hood. A lot of them come from good neighborhoods now.

?? What does that have to do with earning a living and providing necessities for their families? Lively hood wasn’t inferring poverty I just meant earning a living.
If I quit my job today without another job I risk my lively hood. No?

Kyrie and Lou Will are trying to make sure there is no return because they're so woke now.

Imagine the playoffs with noone in the stands. I would almost rather them just cancel the season honestly.

I'll take any kind of basketball over no basketball, although I'm kind of having doubts about it now. I was firmly entrenched in the "lets play ball camp" but what with all the covid cases blowing up in some parts of the US, specifically Florida and with all the civil unrest in combination with some players not wanting to play because of health concerns and social issues...i'm not so sure anymore.

So is it really officially back despite all of the concerns by the players?

Whether you agree with the reasoning or not, there’s just too much money on the like for both parties to cancel the season. I don’t see a scenario where that happens.

I’m starting to think the NBA should consider pulling the plug on this if things don’t start to progress in a positive direction. I don’t begrudge any player’s right not to play. But the NBA shouldn’t attempt this without near universal support. I know the money involved but they actually have more to lose if this goes sideways and fingers start getting pointed.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Well unfortunately they cant "have their cake and eat it too". Im all for making a statement and standing by your beliefs etc. But at the same time cancelling the season will have longer lasting repercussions beyond just this year. These guys cant just sit out and expect to still be making $30-40 million a year next season. If the NBA and TV networks continue losing money in the billions of dollars then player salaries will take an unprecedented drop for years to come.

out of curiosity..do you watch NBA games to look at fans in the stands and hear them screaming or to watch the best basketball players in the world?..sure it was nice hearing the fan's reaction to Kawhi's shot

Personally, I just care about watching the best basketball players..I watch most of the games "on MUTE"

Watch AFL football on tsn now.
They are out there with no fans and they playing a much more physical "in your face" game than nba. Tho i have no idea how they are quarintining players. Interviews were held on the field with a ten foot pool from one guy, with the interviewer about 6 feet away.

The product without fans is fine

They had 7000 total cases and had 12 new cases in last 24 hours. If that were the numbers in the states, the stands would be full. Actually, who knows what the NFL will do even given current numbers.

The NBA should create a Kyrie Irving rule, where they can void Contracts of Players who refuse to play. Instead of buying them out where they get something, they should not have to pay them one more cent. Refuse to play, dont get paid.

Looking more and more likely the NBA will not come back this year. Way too many negative variables at play and the momentum is strongly against a come back

The obvious ones are fear of safety from covid (or injuries), also the protests are creating another excuse,

But the real reason the NBA is not coming back is because of the "Bubble" idea

These players are multi-millionaire 20 year olds who love women, partying, gambling, hanging with friends, etc. They are used to getting their way. I can bet you that the vast majority of them get anxiety from the thought of being stuck in a hotel room for 3 months without any of their vices. The anxiety leads to finding excuses not to go.

Hopefully I am wrong and the money is just too big of a factor. But right now I would bet heavily on a cancellation.

The scary part is - with a 2020 cancellation and a late 2020 '2nd wave' the NBA may actually be postponed deep into 2021 as well.

It literally doesn't look that way at all. Despite whatever it was that Kyrie tried to set in motion, the vast majority of the players are on board with this plan (including most importantly LeBron James and the other superstars) and there are hundreds of millions of dollars that depend on them giving this a go (for both the league and the players).

Whether it ends up being a mess is a different question, but they're going to play.
