Odd timing to say this? It's more or less confirmed that it is.

This was when the news broke about some players being hesitant to return due to a number of reasons.

Ah, my bad, didn't see the date. Looks like it's just Kyrie and Dwight. Majority of the superstars and the lower paid players want it to happen, so it will. LeBron and CP3 are basically the most powerful players and their being on board says it all IMO.

yeah Lonzo definitely has that Jason Kidd mentality of always having his head up and trying to advance the ball quickly via the pass. He's truly outstanding in that area. And if his shooting can continue to uptick, I'm going to have to eat some crow on the guy--he has a chance to be a very useful, if unconventional point guard and I was pretty convinced that was never going to work.

Getting out of LA was the best thing that ever happened to the guy.

Also shows you how few people have been in the NBA.

First glance don't see anything drastically different, and passes the smell test. I haven't at all been a fan of 538's new metric (the defensive tracking data is awful to me), and this going historically is interesting.

Steph has broken the ORPM formula. Dude is like three standard deviations ahead of any other player in the last 23 years... Ironically, the 2nd most valuable offensive player in the last 23 years is Westbrook...

Have to be honest, I've made a U-turn on the bubble.

If they cannot house the people who will be needed to cook/clean/etc in the bubble itself, I don't think the season should happen.

It's just too big a risk to have hundreds of employees going in and out everyday even if they're not supposed to have contact with the players: just not a real bubble then.

They should have had it in Hawaii....problem would have been way easier to solve and no visa issues on top of that. Live crowd doesn't matter so they could have played at a time to fit the best timezone demographics.

Who in their right mind thought Florida would be a good idea lol.

I don't think it matters IF the employees are sealed in too.

If they're in and out I don't think anywhere is truly safe other than Taiwan or New Zealand.

I tell you what: If this ends up blowing up because it was in Florida, whoever the decision makers are attached to the NBA don't get to blame Florida. They knew when they were making decisions what the governor's attitude was.

The reality is it could go back anywhere, even Hawai'i, but it should have been a major priority to pick a place that seemed likely to remain safe, and Florida was quite literally one of THE places that should have been removed from the list on that criteria.

I've been very pro-Silver so far in his tenure, but there's always been a concern that he goes with the flow a bit too easily. When that was the right move, and it resulted a change from Stern's authoritarian absurdity, it made sense to praise. But there's a lot about the Bubble situation that just smacks of a lack of contingency vision and/or a lack of executive assertiveness. Silver needs to understand that we're going to judge HIM for how all this goes. It's absolutely going to be a major part of his legacy specifically. And when he let's inept owners with bad teams get their ways on little things, it makes hard to keep faith that he's really steering the ship when you see the real iceberg approach.

Don't see much of a problem with the Bubble. Virus is everywhere in US and it's not like these guys are sitting in a quarantine in their houses, so the Bubble would be a much safer place, if your main concern is health.

Reality is - it would be much harder to pull next season off than this bubble thing

If it was a TRUE bubble, then yes. But having the non basketball employees entering and leaving destroys the sanctity of it. I always imagined the cooks and cleaners and whoever else would also be living in the bubble. But if they're not then IMO it's too unsafe.

If there wouldn't be any close contacts between employees and players/staffers I don't see a huge issue here
