Who do you think will end with the best career. Given their current circumstances and what they've shown so far.

Luka, Zion, or Tatum?

IMO this comes down way more to randomness/luck/how life goes than anything we can see right now and it's kind of pointless to think about.

If you saw KG and Duncan's 22 year old selves, you'd probably think KG will have the "greater" career. But Duncan is the more legendary of the two, he won more, was on better teams, had better longevity, etc.

Antoine Walker and Pierce are like that too. Walker was more prodigious for his age statistically at the beginning. But due to various factors you can't see or predict (as a fan), Pierce eclipsed him.

Also Kobe/McGrady/Iverson/Carter.... how dominant a player is at this early/breakout juncture of their career, doesn't correlate that strongly to who finishes ahead of who in the end. Comes down to who stays in one piece, who's team gets good, who's makeup is right in ways we don't know about yet.

Of course a lot can play a factor. The history of the franchise for instance gives Tatum and Luka an immediate advantage over Zion. Duncan was the number 1 pick paired with an MVP caliber player in David Robinson, a perennial all star in Sean Elliot and of course Pop. If history teaches us anything between the the careers of Garnett and Duncan is that you need to consider other factors outside of talent. Is Hayward, Brown, Kemba, and Stevens Tatum’s Robinson, Elliott, and Pop? Is Lonzo and Ingram Zion’s Marbury and Sprewell?

With that said, some players transcend bad situations. Like LeBron, who carried horrible cavs teams to the finals. Is Zion that good?

I personally think It’s going to be Luka’s league for the next decade. I’ve never seen a player dominate so early at such a prolific rate in my life. Tatum will be the better two way player but Luka is a generational in the same way Bird and Lebron were.

It’s definitely far to early to make any determinations about Zion, especially given his situation. Which means Luka and Tatum are currently set up to have better careers, given what we know now.

Zion is best talent of 3 but his weight is going to be an issue for longevity. Luke’s greatness is due to skill which is already at a peak. I think he is a Hall of Famer but I don’t see him getting much better than he already is and European players have historically had durability issues once they hit 27 yo. Tatum is probably in the middle talentwise and skill wise. However, I think he is the farthest of the three away from his peak abilities and has the highest growth potential. He might not end up as good as the other two but I honestly don’t know. I do know that I wouldn’t trade him for either of those two because I believe he is the surest bet of the three to be healthy and elite 10 years from now.

SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

One improvement JT needs to make is to stop slamming the ball down in frustration and getting these cheap technical fouls.

Did it for maybe the 4th time this season and we lost by 1. Now that he's over 19 it's time to eliminate this from the repertoire.

Agreed. And flailing the arms after not getting a foul called on EVERY drive he misses. Maybe by the time he's 16 he can get past these things.

Beard Man Gets Paid.

Jayson Tatum envisioned a plan more than a year ago. He's been executing that plan ever since. Only coronavirus can stop him now.

I DID NOT mean this literally!!

Jayson Tatum, pre-coronavirus in the US: 21.5 ppg, 6.9 ppg, 2.8 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.8 bpg on 44/36/84 splits; 54.2% TS%, 11.3 NRTG
Jayson Tatum, post-coronavirus in the US*: 29.2 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.1 bpg on 48/47/75 splits; 60.8% TS%, 7.8 NRTG
Jayson Tatum, post-coronavirus shutdown in the US: ZEROES across the board

*He was 5th in scoring. The only other guy to average 25+ ppg, 5+ rpg, 1+ spg, 1+ bpg during that span was Anthony Davis, the guy he was supposed to be traded for over the summer.

Tatum is legit special and so is Brown, imo. Pierce said he was better than him when he was 19/20 years old than Paul at 23-24 and I don't think Paul was just saying cause he's a Celtic. I think Tatum could be a taller, better on defense Pierce. And to me the first season when I watched Paul(the C's were trash outside of him), Paul could've easily been a top 30 player if the C's gave him better teammates when he was between 26-28. The stats he was averaging were elite, even in today's game with a **** supporting cast. So if Jayson can be that, he'd be a top 5 player for a long period of time.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.
