Apparently, The warriors have real incentive to get things done with respect to a trade using their 17.2 million Iggy exception.
Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) Tweeted:
The $17.2M Golden State trade exception now expires on October 24. ?s=20
Otherwise, They might just do this:
Greg Sylvander (@GregSylvander) Tweeted:
Watch the Heat create more cap space by sending Iggy back to GSW in October ?s=20
So, Seeing as how Oubre is sitting out the season restart, Could that have any bearing on a possible GS trade, In that they're having him sit out as a preventative measure prior this very kind of potential trade?
Or is it just in that he has made the personal decision himself to sit out, And not potentially further jeopardize his health in a contract year?
Maybe, IF the front office does indeed have plans to trade Oubre and alternatively invest in Mikhail and a more traditional veteran power forward option, We could consider this trade to facilitate the Golden state proposal??
Phoenix/ Golden State/ Atlanta-

Option 1- ***( Best choice).
Flip the top 3?? pick ( GS) to Boston for Marcus Smartand the 17th/ 26th picks.
** Then flip the 10th pick/ Eric Paschall to Detroit for Luke Kennard.
17- Draft Jalen Smith or Tyler Bey.
26- Draft Daniel Oturu or Vernon Carey. To be Baynes eventual replacement???( Baynes resigned to 1 yr deal).
***** In free agency, Go after a reasonably priced power forward: Giles/ Crowder/ Patterson or Green? Or perhaps bring Saric back on a 1 yr deal?
Option 2-
Draft one of Ball or Hayes or Haliburton with the top 3-4 pick. Then trade Kaminsky/ 10th pick/ A future lotter protected first to Memphis for Justice Winslow/ Brandon Clarke/ and the 40th pick (* returned). Draft Reggie Perry to be our backup 4/5.
In free agency, Go hard after one of Jerami Grant/ Ibaka/ Milsapp or Favors, whichever comes the cheapest!

I don't think we're keeping Oubre out for trade purposes specifically. I think we're doing this in order to let him fully heal. But, I wouldn't be shocked if this is at least on the front office's minds that if a deal is to be made with him this offseason, we won't be able to move him if he tears an ACL or something. He'll be worthless since he'll miss the year and can't benefit anyone.

Yeah I think it's simply precautionary since his rehab was interupted. It's a little odd to me he'll be with the team in the bubble.King4Day wrote:I don't think we're keeping Oubre out for trade purposes specifically. Or how about... this charade doesnt matter, the season was cooked months ago, and this playoff format virtually assures us of 8 meaningless games.
But yeah, I'll go with the injury/trade thing.
What ? Me Worry ?

So IF we're keeping him, And we're absolutely confident that we can resign him, Then That'd be really cool. But to still get the most out of this draft pick, With the primary intent of keeping Oubre, I'd still see IF I could do one of 3 things:
1-
Trade back with Dallas for Delon Wright and the 31st pick.
31- Draft Precious Achiuwa or Paul Reed. I prefer Achiuwa for his ELITE versatile defense ( 1-5) and Elite rebounding. Very similar to Jerami Grant honestly, And he can guard all positions, 1-5. Or my 2nd choice would be Paul Reed, As he would also be a very nice compliment to Oubre as well, As he could play at any of the 3-5. And also has some floor spacing potential too.
***Then trade Diallo/ Okobo (** options picked up) to Charlotte for the 32nd pick. At 32, Draft Grant Riller. Riller can be a potent 6th man scoring option for us, Similar to what Dennis Schroder/ Lou Williams is for their respective teams.
*** In free agency, Go after a shooting guard/ scorer!!! Maybe make a big offer to Joe Harris or go with one of Tim Hardaway Jr/ Alec Burks or Bryn Forbes??? Then resign Baynes.
2- ****** Swing big move!
Trade the 10th pick to Detroit for Luke Kennard. And then look to trade Kaminsky/ Diallo and Okobo (** options picked up) to Sacramento the 35th and 43rd picks.
35- Draft Grant Riller. ( backup 1/2).
43- Draft Reggie Perry. ( backup 4/5).
** Go hard in free agency after one of Jerami Grant/ Serge Ibaka/ Paul Milsapp/ or Derrick Favors. Resign Baynes.
3-
Trade the 10th pick/ Kaminsky/ Diallo (* option picked up) AND ***A future lottery protected first to Memphis for Tyus Jones/ *** Brandon Clarke and the 40th pick(* returned).
40- Draft Reggie Perry or Killian Tillie.
*** In free agency, Go hard after one of: Jerami Grant/ Ibaka/ Milsapp or Favors. Resign Baynes.

Perhaps!
But even still, These 8 meaningless games actually still carry value, In that they ( IF Oubre would've chosen to play) given us more critical/ extended perspective on what we truly have with our starting core. And thusly giving us a better idea of what offseason moves to make or not. Also, They would've been beneficial overall to Oubre, As they would've allowed him a bit more time to potentially showcase his Skillset/ value to potential teams' in excess of what next season might/ might not allow prior to his free agency? But I do also understand his position in choosing to play it safe, And not potentially risk further injury heading into what would be a contract year for him. I'm just curious as to the source of his decision, As it was stated earlier by Sarver himself that he fully expected Oubre to play.
Also, It just would've been nice to get another glimpse of the team at their full potential ( by design) and not only a portion of what Jones envisioned due to injuries and other unforeseen calamities. But you're right that aside from perspective, The games overall are a pointless waste, Considering the odds!

Ariza out... but he is so bad that probably is an addition by subtraction for the Blazers.

I wonder if Baynes opts to sit out. Pending FA and might just choose to stay out of the US until next season. He's the most likely suns to do so IMO.

Yeah I was just gonna say, I think Baynes will likely sit out too.
Especially since Oubre sitting out basically almost fully eliminated any slight chance we had of overtaking Memphis for the #8 seed.
Regardless, I hope we bring Baynes back. He was terrific before the hip injury and I think his leadership rubbed off on Ayton becoming better defensively.

I don't think so.
He talked about playing a couple of weeks ago. And he is already training to play.

Oh I had missed that but good stuff. I just figured he fell in the category of pending FAs that I could see why they would skip this.Saberestar wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:I wonder if Baynes opts to sit out. I don’t see how 8 games are going to show us anything we don’t already know
Someone want to tell me?

It's probably more important to let Booker experience what 'playing for something' feels like. Even though our chances are so minor.
Maybe to get Cam and Jerome more minutes.
Part of me kinda wishes we weren't part of it. Imagine Book or Ayton tear and ACL or something? Out for next season too....what a crusher that'd be. Automatically miss the playoffs next season before this year even ended.

I don't get why some people are not excited about watching our team again. In reality we have now a better opportunity for being in the playoffs than at any moment since 2014.
I get that is a long shot, but when hasn't been a long shot?
This season is gonna be remembered for years to come, a truly special year on so many levels. Those 22 teams that are gonna compete in Orlando, all of them, are gonna experience something that would have been crazy to imagine just a few months ago. It is gonna be a learning process and a valuable experience for all the players, coaches and people involved.
Everything can happen in those 8 games and some players can increase their value as a FAs (Saric, Baynes, Carter) and we can get a better feeling of who we want as part of our core for next season.
And with Oubre out there will be more shots available for everyone. I want to watch our offense built around Booker and Ayton but there will be more shots for Saric, Rubio, Bridges, Cam... It's gonna be interesting to watch who step up his game in this tough and different environment.

8 more games together will give us some time to experiment and get some chemistry together now that we are mostly healthy minus Oubre. Excited to see this! It's like summer league but with our whole team
