We get two big games against the Nets. The Nets also play the Celtics, Kings, Wizards, Bucks, Clippers, and Blazers. The battle for 7th will be tight.

The Wizards get the Celtics, Nets, Pacers, Bucks, Pelicans, Thunder, Sixers, and Suns.

That last game against the Pelicans could be a dog fight. The Pelicans will likely be fighting to get a play in game against the Grizzlies. We'll be fighting to avoid a play in game or fighting for 7th.

So are they taking into account the rest of the season w & L. So if we beat the nets one more time we take the season series 3-1( if we where to lose one game) or is all of that out the window for these final 8 games and they are taking the standing based off of these 8 games?

My understanding is these games will be added on to the win/loss totals already established before the season was shutdown.

So with one win against the Nets mean the Magic would win the season series and a H2H tiebreaker.

I'd be curious to see what the league would do of both teams go 4-4 with Orlando winning the season series against the Nets (possibly 4-0) and if that would carry enough weight to make up for the .5 in the standings since Orlando has played one more game than the Nets.

Well our schelude got a lot tougher. I would be angry, but truth is if we cant beat the nets there is no point in playoffs for us.

Looking at what would have slotted:
This spredsheet has a different organisation and order of games for Orlando:
predited games for bubble teams
vs. SAC
at BKN
vs. IND
vs. BKN
at BOS
at PHI
vs. BOS
at IND

What resulted was only one Indiana and one Boston game with those being replaced with Toronto and New Orleans, respectively. (And a shuffling of the order of the games). I think that is fair and creates better balance.

By the Way, her is Washington's full schedule:
Fri, Jul 31 Phoenix *
Sun, Aug 2 Brooklyn *
Mon, Aug 3 Indiana *
Wed, Aug 5 Philadelphia *
Sat, Aug 8 New Orleans *
Sun, Aug 9 Oklahoma City *
Wed, Aug 12 Milwaukee *
Thu, Aug 13 vs Boston *

If Orlando beats Brooklyn and then Brooklyn beats the Wizards, Orlando might outright clinch a full playoff slot in the 2/3 August range.

So Orlando went from being in the bottom third with easiest schedule (19 out of 30) to the bottom quarter (16 out of 22).
whereas the Nets went from the one quarter hardest (8 out of 30) to one of the very easiest (19 out of 22).
And Washington went from the hardest schedule (1 out of 30) to middle pack (10 out of 22).

Frankly I cannot really complain as the Magic's games themselves are fair to previous strength of schedule.
That is: just win and get in!

A random thought: by giving the Lakers the hardest 8 games scheduler's, given that this team is already the 1 seed in the West, this freed up the schedule to give the Pelicans the easiest possible path to qualify. The Zion Williams gift from the league?

The Nets and the Magic cannot tie (odd games played), so it is irrelevant who won the season series.

One can assume that the Pelicans / Magic games will get a TV slot as well.

I believe Magic-Kings is also on NBATV if you consider that national television.

That Brooklyn does not have an absolute easier schedule than the Magic is fair.

The Magic can lose-out the "regular" season, still make the playoffs, and then win the NBA championship. These next 8-games are about player development more than "winning".

But as an aside: if the Magic goes 7-1, then the team will end up with another winning record.

This is such a weird thing with no home crowds, players potentially sitting out, it's just hard to tell what to predict. But under normal situations I'd expect us to go 4-4 with that schedule. If we do that, we should stay right where we are. But I wouldn't be surprised if there are some more upsets. It's going to be very interesting.

That is a tough pill to swallow... If Orlando beats the Nets twice to sweep the season series or even just once and both teams finish with the same record over the remaining eight games -- to lose out on seeding because of imbalance would be disappointing.

I wish there was some kind of provision in the league's reopening plan that stated something addressing a such scenario.

It is the world we're living in though.
