Trier...I hardly knew her...

With anywhere close to a competent staff/organization I feel he could have been our Lou Williams (not sure where those Harden comps came from).

you need just 3-4 players who can create their own shot (and I don't consider ZO one of them if we became a good team). the rest has to be role players (with good D). so I don't mind this ..
but of course we could have had at least 2 second round picks for him a year ago.

I never cared for Allonzo but he clearly should have gotten playing time over DSJ.

It was so odd the way we handled Trier. We started him at PG game 1 and then basically gave up on him. He still had a 62% ts and was crazy efficient. But still was not able to get a consistent role on a team desperate for perimeter scoring. His game is built to be a 6th man.

In terms of letting him go now, I understand. He probably wouldn't want to sign back here anyway, and maybe we wanted to move on as well. Might as well use this time to take a look at other players and give Trier a shot somewhere else.

Oh well. It all goes back to how horrible last offseason was and what a wasted season we had. Hopefully better things to come for the Knicks.

yeah i think our first mistake was the structure/type of contract we gave him...I always liked the kid and I believe he
will grow into a plus nba starter at the very least...

He will probably end up on the Nets or Heat.

What?!!!

He was an isolation artist who appeared better than he was because he spent 4 yrs in college and was drafted to a young team thats trash.

I dont think he sucked nor do I like the way his second yr was handled. I'll even go as far as to say I could see him sticking around in the nba but hes a bottom 3rd roster player for life. Hes got no potential. What he was able to do with the Knkcks is probably the best opportunity he'll ever have.

I mean I disagree, the kid was walking bucket....

steps backs, drives, pull-ups, off the dribble, off the catch, one-on-one, in the paint, from the primeter, floaters, up and unders, with and without contact, he had everything in his bag to be an elite scorer, and the stones to do it... He's still young but that talent level needs to be refined.

A little discipline, IQ and learning the nuances of the pro game and the kid could be an allstar. He'd have to max out his potential but he has the talent to get there... unlike say a Knox, that dude is only good for open shots, and he's not mentally tough

He is not much better than Trey Burke. As for the Harden comparisons, Harden can pass the ball and rebound. This guy can't do either. Harden can shoot the 3's, Trier can't. He will hang around the league ala Trey Burke and will occasionally have 30-40 point gmaes, but this kid does not belong in a regular rotation.

Trey Burke is to Allonzo Trier as Danny Granger is to Carmelo Anthony...

No comparison

Here is them training together

I just have a feeling that Trier is going to be another one of those guys who torches us for years to come and goes back to being normal when he plays other teams.

Yeah say what you want about Trier he was skilled and had potential to be a good sixth man. I don’t like losing decent players for nothing.

There is a reason why Trier went undrafted but he will def have a decent nba career and will torch us every time he plays us lol

Trier is like the guard version of al harrington. low iq, bad defense, misses open teammates, great individual scorer but cant play within the flow of the offense.

speaking of Al who else remembers this?

Sad to see Trier go, but will be happy if he gets a chance at stability elsewhere. He’s the type that will come back and torch us for sure.

well the Knicks/GSW version, indeed. rookie Al/Woody Al were polar opposites compared to what we saw.
