I think this is the 1 year where a top pick may not matter, ie picks 5-15 could be interchangeable, a lot of GMs will be making more mistakes then usual letting talent slide given the shortened NCAA season and likely no draft combine

I think people are just waiting for all the initial moves to drop then they can recalibrate and make there follow up moves.

Tough to make 2-3 moves and trade guys you don't technically have because already a few deals fell apart so nothing is for certain until the move is official from bish.

But how are deals falling through when they can’t even be submitted until the 11th? Or am I off with the date?

from my understanding people got a bit ahead of themselves in terms of making certain deals work under the cap and think they have other deals lined up and they required one deal to make the other deal work.

if that makes sense.

My understanding is once parties verbally agree on a deal - (virtual handshake), it's bad ethics for a party to pull out. UNLESS the deal was contingent on a primary deal before it that falls apart.

Another out is if either party says something like "let's revisit this framework later" or talks are preliminary but nothing is actually agreed upon.

So with that said, if there is an actual detailed agreement, even if the trade isn't officially submitted and accepted by bish yet (before the 11th), it just looks bad and can be interpreted as unethical to pull out of the deal, or change the terms unless cap requirements or overlooked details dictate doing so.

Just in the spirit of operating in good faith.

you have no disagreement at all from me. If both parties were under the impression the deal was accepted it would be bad faith to back out.

This didn't effect me in my deals. But there probably isn't a rule against it but if a GM did this to me I probably wouldn't work with them again.

So all trades are going to hit Bish’s inbox starting at 12am on July 11th. Yikes! Seems it’ll be a lot.

to be clear I don't think anyone operated in bad faith in terms of the deals. I think it just happened where a couple deals were contigent on maybe another potential deal going through and maybe all those kinks were worked out.

And I don't have any specific details of the negotiations of some of those deals so I don't want to speak for those GM's. No one seems to banged up about it.
