Re: ATL - RIP Jerry Sloan - Page 77
Kidd still has a ton of relationships with current and former NBA guys from his playing days. He was hand-picked by Lebron as an assistant coach. I mean, that doesn't mean that it still isn't incredibly stupid reasoning (it is), but he's not the first failed head coach to get multiple opportunities due entirely to his connections (why else are Marc Jackson, Ty Lue, and Scott Brooks still being mentioned for HC jobs?), and he certainly won't be the last.

Kidd should stick with the Lakers, he has to know there's no way that he wouldn't flame out in 2 years tops with the Knicks.

Guaranteed contract though. It's like 20 mil in the bank. I agree though, he probably knows his chances of success are very low.
Still can't believe he's flying under the radar in the metoo world these days.
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

What am I missing here? How could any objective observer conclude he is anything other than woefully incompetent as a head coach? No doubt he has much respect around the league stemming from his playing days. Getting a year of Lebron was a smart move for his career, and I'm confident he can be a valuable part of a staff AS AN ASSISTANT. If he showed any ability to adapt or even the slightest inclination towards humility, I could make a case for him 'growing' as a coach. But, nope, can't do it. Then there's the questionable character component...
I can only draw one conclusion: The Knicks hope Kidd can correct their recent failures to lure stars to MSG. Desperation at best.
There are a significant number of people that believe Kidd would be a major pull for Giannis in FA.
I swear the league is run by dummies.

It is crazy that there are analytic and scouting departments charting things like how well players defend two dribble pull up jumpers. And then there are organizations like the Knicks, seemingly unaware of common knowledge like Giannis’ bad blood with Kidd.

Broekhoff is such a great pick up for the 76ers, will give them that extra "space the floor, let it fly if it comes near you" type bench guy they seem to have got good use from in the past.

Another Finals game where Mirotic disappears and his team loses. It's way too predictable at this point...

All Kidd has to do is tell the Knicks he can bring Giannis in. He might even believe he can. But what are they going to do? Check with Giannis?
Also, there's no way he doesn't think he's great. I assure you that it's never occurred to Kidd he might not be a good coach. He probably gives himself credit for Giannis and Khris. He probably looks at the Bucks this year and thinks "They're lucky I did all the heavy lifting".
And as far as the people who hire people in the Knicks organization, they've shown time and time again their abilities.
This all makes sense where I am sitting from.

Vamos, Pau! A year later than I thought it’d happen. Back home with Mirotic to play for Sarunas Jasikevicius.

40 year old Pau Gasol will be the greatest big man Europe has seen since a 40 year old Sabonis!

Something tells me Mirotic & Jasikevicius are destined for a personality clash.

Did you really just post a lineup with the starting 2 guard being JR Smith?
Our actual management posted a lineup with the starting 2 guard being Tony Snell.

Fail miserably = win less than 2 ELs in the next 3 years. Pau Gasol's 40yo knees presence in the teamafter 1.5 years of medical retirement doesn't affect my lack of goodwill towards the team that features Mirotic's fake Balkan beard and Saras' whiny mug behind a budget of a billion euros

Here is the RGM story on the wiretap involving Woj, Hawley and China.
https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/258748/Adrian-Wojnarowski-Apologizes-For-Email-To-Sen-Josh-Hawley-Over-Social-Justice-Uniforms
If we can keep the discussion civil, there are elements here related to the NBA's salary cap. The loss of China money has been big the past year and based on recent events/laws enacted in Hong Kong, Daryl Morey's tweet last fall might now receive some additional weight.
Ramifications for NBA China and those revenues take on a larger impact, given the loss of local arena operations due to Covid-19.
