Honestly, this seems pretty clear
Best player of 70's KAJ
Best player of 80's Magic (of course, could be Bird)
Best player of 90's-MJ
Best player of 00's TD
Best player of 10's-LBJ

And they all fit seamlessly

C: Kareem (can't justify anyone else in the 70s)

PF: KG (Kareem blocks out Shaq and Duncan from taking C for the 00s, Duncan is better than KG IMO but only when playing his best position which is C and again Kareem has that covered. Kobe and I guess Wade are blocked by MJ)

SF: LeBron (best 6 years for LeBron is 2010s, Curry is the other choice for 10s if you get creative or really lean on 09 as Lebrons peak and sneak him in as 00s)

SG: Jordan (owned the 90s, no need to overthink this one)

PG: Magic (him or Bird for the 80s and we're left with PG to fill so Magic slides in here.

10s James
90s Jordan
80s Magic

Best players from each decade. 00s only debatable one.

Magic - 80
Jordan - 90
Durant - 10
Duncan -00
Kareem - 70

This I believe is the best fit out of any team you can build. There is no ball stoppers and extremely good passing without needing ball in their hand for 20s of shot clock.

Another one would be:
Curry -10
Jordan -90
Bird -80
Duncan -00
KAJ -70

Hmmmm team 1 & 2 on point.
Made some changes to team 3. Sneaking Durant at SG is cheating I know.

1970s Kareem Dr J Hayes
1980s Magic Bird Moses
1990s Jordan Olajuwon Malone
2000s Shaq Duncan Kobe
2010s LeBron Curry Durant

Probably the 3 best players in each decade. Imo.

I'd say:
Kareem
Dirk
LeBron
MJ
Magic

I'm going with Dirk over Duncan or KG becuase as a PF on a team with massive size and skill but poor (by modern standards) shooting he's more valuable

or slight alteration -
Kareem
Bird
LeBron
MJ
Nash (or Curry but then you've downgraded LeBron to the 00's version)

There's some forward positioning debate but Bird defended PF's a lot even when playing with McHale. And he'd be a full-time PF now.

That lineup has very little 3 point shooting. So if you're building for today's style, you might change things up.

Maybe:

Steph (2010's)
MJ (90's)
LeBron (00's)
Bird (80's)
KAJ (70's)

Kareem (1970s)
Bird (1980s)
Durant (2010s)
MJ (1990s)
Lebron (2000s)

I was thinking about using Duncan and Magic instead of Bird and Durant, but I wanted more perimeter shooting.

I thought about it, and obviously if you made a team B (where you cant use these players), you probably can't beat this team, but I feel like a lot of people will try to have a few good 3pt shooters.

I'd take peak Shaq over peak Duncan as the best player of the 00's, but obviously he couldn't play alongside Kareem, and Duncan has played PF, so he's clearly the better pick.

70s - Maravich - SG
80s - Bird - SF
90s - Hakeem - C
00s - Duncan - PF
10s - Curry - PG

I like Jordan, but I'm trying to think outside the box a little, and I want Hakeem anchoring my center position. I also like LeBron, but I want Steph as my PG.

Curry and Maravich is an insane modern day backcourt that would make it rain. Add Bird to that group, and the 3-point barrage would be impossible to stop.

The interior defense of Hakeem and Duncan would also be legendary.

Why would take an inferior 1990s PF when you could have 1980s Larry Bird (a PF) and 1990s Jordan?
