The Los Angeles Lakers and J.R. Smith are finalizing a contract for the remainder of the season.

Smith and the Lakers have been discussing a deal since Avery Bradley opted out of the NBA's restart.

Smith last played in the NBA in 2018.

Smith worked out for the Lakers in February before the team signed Dion Waiters.
