Greatest NBA finals game performace

Post#1 » by NotMyKawhi » Mon Jun 29, 2020 9:41 pm

I'm taking Tim Duncan against Nets game 6 of the finals.

21 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, 8 blocks should have been 10 and the 5th quadruple double in NBA history but they robbed him

how can you top that?

Bill Russell's 30-40 performance from 1962 finals.

I love your choice though :)

Clyde had himself a game in 1970.

36 points, 19 assists and 7 rebounds in game 7 with the MVP playing on one leg.

LeBron was robbed of one of the greatest performances of all-time in game 1 of the 2018 Finals. The officiating was really suspect in that 4th quarter, which resulted in a Cavs loss. Only the officials and JR could stop him that night.

So I’ll probably say Frazier, Duncan, a couple of legendary MJ Finals performances (1998 game 6, 1993 game 4) then Bron.

98 Game 6 by Jordan reigns supreme in my book.

I'm not even a lebron fan but totally agree about game 1 of 2018 finals. It could have been the greatest game ever if they were able to finish it off. Especially considering how lopsided the teams were.

I concur with the Duncan game though. A near quadruple double is crazy!

Pascal Siakam scored 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting in his first NBA Finals game, a convincing 118-109 Raptors Game 1 win over the defending champion Golden State Warriors. He became just the seventh player ever to score 30 points on 80 percent shooting in the Finals, and joined Larry Bird, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant as the only players in Finals history to record a stat line of at least 30 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and two threes made. Those numbers are flat-out ridiculous in and of themselves.

Shaq has some crazy stats/impact in the finals.

43/19/4/3 - game 1 vs Indiana
40/24/4/3 - game 2 vs Indiana
44/20/5 - game 1 vs Philly
28/20/9/8 - game 2 vs Philly

Lebron has a collection of supremely impressive finals games against Golden State alone:

51/8/8 on 19/32 shooting
41/13/8
41/16/7
41/8/11 on 16/27 shooting
40/14/11
40/12/8/4
32/18/9/2
39/16/11
44/8/6

For me it's Magic in 1980. As a rookie, KAJ goes down, he's playing out of his position and he makes 42 points, gets 15 rebounds, 7 assists on 60.9 FG% (14-23 FG) and 14-14 from the FT.

As a rookie. On the road. That is just absolutely crazy.

Jerry West in Game 7 of the 1968-69 Finals

42/13/12 playing all 48 minutes in a game they lost by 2 points, securing the only Finals MVP for a player on the losing team.

He could've shot better than 47% and could've played in a series that people watched.

But that wasn't even his best game of the series. His Game 1 was superior. 32/20/6/7/3 on 65% shooting with a 40.8 Game Score (vs the 25.9 Game Score from Game 6).

Steph had an off game
Klay was off
while Dray was defending he wasnt giving you consistent offense

KD really carried the team... that was one of the best finals performances i ever seen... he was giving everyone buckets

Was going to post this. This to me is was even more impressive than MJ's food poisoning game. He shot .563 from the field, and scored 25 points in a quarter on essentially one leg. That is an NBA Finals record for points in a quarter! IT played 44 minutes, and they lost the game by just one point. Had they won the game, they would of won the title.

I know stats were inflated back then, but damn 30/40 in a Finals game is amazing nonetheless.

Tom Heinsohn in 1957-37 and 23. Only game 7 in history to go to double overtime. It was the first Celtics championship.

It may not be the greatest finals game performance, but it certainly is the greatest by a rookie.

When I look at his stats and accomplishments, it surprises me that he doesn't get more praise. Sure he played a pretty short career, but what he did in 9 years is very impressive:

18.6ppg 8.8rpg 2apg while playing alongside so many greats.
Hall of Fame
6 x All-Star
4 x All-NBA 2nd Team
8 championships (was usually like the 3rd best player after Russell/Cousy or Russell/Jones)
1957 ROY
