How come no one ever mentions Chris Gatling?

Post#1 » by Big J » Tue Jun 30, 2020 5:40 pm

He had the ability to play inside and out on O and was an awesome rim protector. Dude would be an absolute beast in todays era, yet no one ever mentions him. Did he just play in the wrong era or for the wrong coach or what? He's gotta be one of the more talented dudes that never gets the mentions.

Not even close to being "one of the more talented dudes" and even further from being "an awesome rim protector". Close the thread please.

He was actually the opposite of a rim protector lol. He did have a good offensive skillset that would be more valuable today though.

I’m not exactly sure why people would spend much time talking about a player who peaked 25 years ago, has a non existent playoff resume and scored only 7000 career points.

I have seen his name pop up when people list the worst all star game selections of all time.

I saw him speeding on State 24 in his convertible with a cell phone glued to his ear and driving one-handed. Not really paying attention. Sorta like he played.

Not gonna lie I loved the cup of coffee he had in Miami when he came over as part of the Hardaway trade (1996). He was a legitimate weapon off the bench (automatic on his short interior slashes/drives) until Chicago absolutely shut him down in the yoffs

Exactly this. Not a good defender at all. Great offensive weapon though.

I agree with you, but perhaps by “out” they meant within the context of jump shooter inside the 3PT line, considering he was a big and in that era no bigs would camp outside.
