Just recently had the opportunity to visit Chicago for the first time as part of my Daughter's college tours...

It's a really cool city. But it's extremely big (it was rebuilt after the great chicago fire of the 1800s and they built it on a grid of 1/8th mile blocks... It's a hike to get a couple blocks away)...
And it's extremely expensive... Like it's the most expensive city I've been to so far in the US... (I've never been to Manhattan)

But if I had a job that paid enough to do it right, I'd consider it...

Oh, and it's cold as penguin's balls in winter...

Haven't been to Chicago, bug would be surprised if it was more expensive than SF.

Chicago's food scene is one of the best and you can have a nice experience without breaking the bank as a college student. I used to make the 6 hour round trip from St Louis quite regularly while I was in college.

Bob Dylan's new album is the best thing to happen in 2020. I love the man.

Yeah I live in SF, $4300 a month for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment. It's only getting worse too

I was in the loop... The rents aren't too bad ($2500/mo 1bed/1bath), but everything else was crazy. Uber, taxis, food... Food especially... Like a couple of burrito bowls, sides and drinks for 2 at a hole in the wall quickie joint was over $100 with a tip. Coffee for 1 and 2 breakfast sandwiches was $80... We ate one nice meal for 2 the whole time we were there... It was almost $200... For beef stew a glass of wine an an appetizer. My Daughter eats like a bird...

He used Matt Chamberlain on drums and my new album features Matt, so he's got that going for him haha

Been to Chicago a few times. Absolutely amazing in the summer/fall.

Winter?? Not so much. Howling -5 winds....no thank you. But then I remember being in Madison WI when it was -30 with a good 20-25 mile wind. I think the whole great-lakes area pretty much deals with it.

I think deep-dish is fantastically overrated. I've also had several "Chicagoans" tell me they think the whole thing is for tourists. They never eat it. Just a mass of carbs, and filling bread. Some chef got a raise for figuring out how to stuff the public for less than 50 cents....while charging north of $20.

To each their own....and it was far from 'horrible'. But I'll pass.

Not gonna Lie... It was good cappuccino, and I'm an espresso fanatic... Like I roast my own beans over wood fires and have a lever espresso machine from the '60s...
But the sandwiches were just bacon and eggs on a Udis roll... We both are allergic to wheat.

Frisco guys think I'm lying because "Nowhere on earth is more expensive than Frisco"... But yeah.... You can eat well in Frisco for a fraction of what we were paying in Chicago... My home office is in San Jose, and I'm in the bay area all the time.
