Knicks Rumored With Potential Move For Devin Booker Due To Leon Rose Link

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 4, 2020 9:36 pm

The New York Knicks could potentially make a move for Devin Booker due to his prior relationship with Leon Rose, league sources told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Rose was Booker's agent, with William Wesley reportedly also close to Booker due to their Kentucky ties.

In regarding potential trades involving the Knicks, Berman writes that "the player to watch out for most is Suns combo guard Devin Booker."

Rose said last week that he wants to improve the Knicks through all avenues, including the draft, free agency, and trades.

“I think he’ll do unbelievable. One of the most genuine guys I know. One of the most honest guys I know. So I’m happy for him in his new position. I think the Knicks are in really good hands," Booker said of Rose after his hire.

Please do not mortgage our future for him, guy is constantly hurt. Stay the course, focus on developing the young players and adding through the draft.

The Knicks could "make a move" for one of the top players under 25yo, eh? With what outgoing assets?!

Even IF Devin made an ugly PR stunt to force his way out of Phoenix, the Suns could field better offers than NYK could muster. They wouldn't want Barrett, Oubre and Bridges have shown more. Robinson would be redundant behind Ayton, and New York's guards don't move the needle.

As fruitless as their FA strategy has been of late, it's a better possibility than this.

Lillard more likely because the Blazers will not be able to afford the back end of that contract and they are not winning.

I wonder if this 'rumor' started when Stephen A. suggested in last week due to the Rose ties.

There's a few things to understand on this.

1. Booker has 4 more non-option years left on his current deal. Phoenix isn't going to give up on him this quick.
2. If a deal were to happen, whether you think he's worth it or not, Phoenix would command a godfather offer for him. Reason being, he's the face of the franchise and fans are frustrated. Losing him means you're going to remain bad for another 4-5 years, or Sarver sells the team.
3. With 4 years left, it's likely more than NY would be interested and they'd have better assets. NY has some OK pieces. Especially if they won the lottery this season, but I wouldn't currently trade Booker for the #1 pick in this draft AND Barratt.

The Suns will certainly look for future unprotected picks in the way OKC got from the Thunder and NO got from the Lakers.
NYK has a similar track record to NY so the hope would be Booker isn't a winner and the losing continues so those picks become more valuable.

I just don't think NY will truly be interested knowing they wouldn't have win-now pieces after the deal was done and couldn't make moves to change that.

We changed basketballs pace and movement and you said Kobe ROAR!! .....I know we are in tough times and we want the bad eggs to acknowledged but let this idiot get a huge offer so he can sell and his stocks can SOAR, and it wouldn't hurt if we could get a trade for Mr 3's Galore for a package that will get us off this F*!^&#% FLOOR!

Stay what course and don't mortgage what future? The Knicks have virtually nothing in terms of young talent. Or any kind of talent.

Minnesota should try and unite the Booker, D-Lo, KAT superfriends team.

Minnesota trades: 2020 1st pick (#3 before the lottery), Jared Culver, Malik Beasley and James Johnson

Phoenix trades: Devin Booker and filler

Booker is under contract until 2024, that’s some serious long term planning by the Knicks.

Booker would be the most Knicks-iest big name the Knicks could get. Great stats, no wins. If only we can go back in a time machine so he can play alongside Marbury, Eddy Curry, and Quentin Richardson, this would be perfect.

For starters not trading away 1st round picks. Mrob is the best defensive young center in the game if he can stat out of foul trouble. RJ is a great finisher around the rim and I’m partial to dotson as a shooter. Not much else tho.

There is no substance to this rumor only speculation based on current hires, which means nothing. No need to crap on the knicks for this click bait.
