Just wanted to share this. I found it pretty interesting. There big shiny new stat is "CraftedPM" or Crafted Plus-Minus.

Here's the formula:

((standardizedRPM x 5) + (standardizedPIPM x 5) + (standardizedRaptor x 7) + standardizedBPM + standardizedMYRPM + standardizedMYPIPM + standardizedC20TPM + standardizedPredator + standardizedPPIPM + standardizedLARAPM + standardizedLA3RAPM) / 25

So as you can see they weight different RPM-based stats, add them up, and then divide them for an overall average of various stats.

The results are pretty interesting.

How so?

Those weights look completely arbitrary.

Adding a bunch of garbage together and taking the mean doesn't give you better results. Especially if PIPM is added. That stat is pure unadulterated garbage.

The negative opinion expressed above does not offer a favored alternative.

CraftedPM is evolving but is the only already calculated metric blend.

Metric blends imo are better than building an evaluation (or "stool") on 1 leg.

PIPM was good enough effort to be a core part of creator getting hired by NBA team. Not good enough to stand completely alone but then maybe nothing is.
