Orlando Bubble teams are allowed to sign players. And the Nets are decimated.

Makes sense, and some good experience for Donta. Might be able to pull him back into the fold after the season officially wraps, assuming he doesn't totally light up the court during this run.

Normal poor choices by DET front office.

Henson and Thon have zero upside. At best Henson is a serviceable vet and backup big.

Hall has upside and who knows, he might become a strong defensive big. Something like Henson plus defense. Instead hes gone. Best of luck!

The Pistons may have tried to keep him but the Nets offered more. Not to say that the Pistons didn't blow it, but I've seen nothing that suggests they intentionally just let him walk.

meh. If the front office wanted him, we would have just offered him a similar 1 year deal for the remainder of the season with a team option on the second. We didn't and now someone else is giving him a look.

Of course, this doesn't mean we should stick with Thon or even Henson. Keep signing under the radar guys and hopefully we find more that fit. Hall seemed like a decent enough guy, but I don't think his skill set is where the team - or the league - wants to go right now. If you can get a situational defense-only big to round out the roster, fine. You aren't looking for that in your regular rotation though.

Good luck to him.

Hall appeared a fringe player to me. Not to say he was worthless, but the team's future was never going to rise or fall because of Donta Hall.

i agree, definitely didn't see him as much more than a capable bench C

Much more interested in a guy like Patton who's bigger, more fluid, with potential to stretch the floor from 3 and be the perfect modern big. Obviously, very slim chance of that happening, but I think we're at a point where we take chances on high ceilings rather than bench contributors who will never become much more than that
