Wow, building up the anayltics department now. Rose has been very different, which is a great thing

I saw the above post and was just about to post "Whoa, is this an analytics hire!?"

Rose doing work here.

Although don't we want it applied to bball talent?

Well, the guy has the chops to work up the data. Hope to see a few more hires here though, with a few that are bball operations + analytics, though maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way

Yeah, I think Brock Aller will be the trade and asset guru.

Both of his most recent firms are financial in nature, and I don't necessarily trust titles. With the potentially highly variable outcomes of salary cap projections over the next couple of years, it wouldn't hurt to have someone be focused more on BRI projections that can feed into Aller's cap allocation strategy.

I assume he will help apply it to basketball and maybe help build a staff. Not really sure how it well all fit though

If Rose succeeds he will have to ask Christopher Walken to step down as the King of New York

No offense my dude but what are you 'loving'?

Nobody even knows who this guy we just hired is.

A lot of this is just reshuffling the deck chairs until proven otherwise.

For all this 'new front office' hype, the structure of the Knicks remains the same.

James Dolan hires his friend, Leon Rose, as the president of the team.

Scott Perry is still around and Allan Houston is still roaming around like a ghost.

Leon Rose hires his friend, Tom Thibodeau, as head coach.

At the end of the day it's still about the Dolan personal relationships than anything else.

That's an encouraging hire. This guy sounds more like an asset management strategy guy. Not Xs and Os analytics. He'll be able to identify value contracts that can be flipped for better assets. We still need to beef up the basketball side of analytics but this is a good sign.

Lol. Cmon man. Why?

Why is WWW a game changer? He was relevant a decade ago. Regardless, is he a Presti, Ujiri, Buford, etc? What record does he have in team building?

CAA has run the Knicks before and failed. What makes you think this time it will be different?

Amateurs talk strategy. Professionals talk logistics.

In the corporate world influence means zip, nada, zilch.

Influence=talk w/o real power.

Operational control=power. Power is the ability to change a multinationals direction.

You simply can't win boardroom fights via proxy (influence). Whatever you may think, there are 10 other vested "interests" arguing against you. And they, unlike you, have institutional positions of authority.

Rose might have had someone's ear before. Now, Rose is the ear and he has operational control.

* - The exception is if the influencer is "blood".

Finally some guys that know their work, not the stereotypical yes-men. Now it's time for Dolan step back and incorporate the Rangers model in Knicks organization. Not a championship model, but at least good one, bearable.

FWIW, he has no educational background or certification in R, SQL, or Python, so he isn’t running codes either. Excel spreadsheets are a basic form of analytics.

He has zero basketball experience either.

As Fizdale would have said "That don't always the truth." He at least claims a working knowledge of Python and SQL from the posted LinkedIn excerpt.

Yes. He's doing financials. Not basketball analysis. The team needs a few Synergy type nerds like KT.
