So my initial impression seems spot on, after reading reviews at The Verge, Polygon, Kotaku, and Vice.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed. I mean it wasn't super high on my list - or even on my list until a couple months ago - but now I'm not sure I'll play. Especially after hearing how rough the stealth gameplay is, which would be my (greatly) preferred play style.

ETA: To be clear, sounds like a solid-to-super good game, but that it's basically Assassin's Creed: Feudal Japan. I'd be down if there were some more unique aspects to that, or a killer story, but it sounds relatively "...eh".

I'm still not sure how I feel about Tsushima. My plan has been to wait and potentially play it on the PS5. I do worry because I tend to get bored like mid-way through Assassin's Creed games and give up due to the repetitive nature of them so I worry about the same thing happening here. I tend to trust Sucker Punch more than Ubi though.

And while some of the reviews have definitely pointed out how similar it is to other games out there, I've seen others that say they think this a Game of the Year candidate/one of their favorite games of all-time, so who really knows. At any rate, I'm not deciding on it anytime soon.

I really trust Karak (ACG) a lot. He does incredible work and I very often find my tastes match his.

So gah'damnit. (He basically says 'lol of course buy this, it's a ton of fun')

I just wish they added a new wrinkle to the open world formula. Like I said, I'm loving Shadow of War, but it's almost entirely because of the bonkers Nemesis system and siege battles.

After watching the IGN review, I'm currently still hoping to force myself to wait for a discount/maybe wait for PS5. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll patch some of the stealth issues by then. But the more I see the more tempted I am to just buy it.

Ghost of Tsushima (hereby known as 'Ghost') has been a great deal of fun so far. Love the setting - unique to any recent games - story has been interesting, solid combat (to me, it's hard - to you DS lovers it will be a drop in the bucket I'm sure), stealth is better than sold.

Really, though, holy **** the game is gorgeous. It isn't like, 'wow beautiful game' gorgeous; it's more like, 'I am playing a work of art' gorgeous. I think I've taken 6 or 7 screenshots so far. That's just not something I do normally.

It is AC-ish. Lots of distractions, strongholds to take down, etc. I guess we'll see how well that ages - probably won't know for a week or two. But right now I'm pretty interested in exploring the beautiful world and seeing the story unfold.

So far I really enjoying Ghost. I honestly never played a single Assassin's creed game, so I dont know, but I really doubt any AC is as good as this, I really doubt it. Ghost offers you nothing new in terms of real gameplay, beside honorable challenge option every time you come across enemy base (which is awesome). I find it very similar to Horizon zero dawn but with less dodging/rolling and more katana blocking (you can roll by the way, but it is not always efficient), but the story and setting is amazing, game instantly makes you understand Samurai, and how hard it is for main character Jin to break Samurai code and become dishonorable ghost, it goes against everything he believes in and what his legacy suppose to be about, but as some other character said, Samurai has forgotten what its like to be an underdog, and right now they are overwhelmed by Mongolian invaders. So far story is captivating, and you just want to resolve it on personal level.

Of course main guys you fight at least so far, are faceless mongolians, there are different type of guys, like basic swordmen, shield guys, spear guys, basic stuff. But main villain is great, minor spoiler - you fight him and lose very early on, and his introduction is amazing, he is big, he is smart and he did his homework, literally.

Open world offers you everything any PS4 exclusive offered you in the past, like bandit camps right out of Horizon or any other game ever made. There are some stylish gimmicie things, like for example map has ? marks just like Witcher 3, which is awesome, but when you arrive at ? location, you not always find something concrete, you might find a fox, which you need to further follow to find a shrine (you can pet a fox, so extra points on that). I believe there is no option to have Minimap, which can be both immersive and annoying, they decided to replace basic marker option to this wind mechanic, where wind will show you the direction you need to go. But at least so far I find it very confusing, I still constantly pressing OPTION button to look up a map to be sure I am in the right direction.

One more positive thing. Some missions at least early on feature AI partner characters, and thank goodness AI partners actually contribute, they do damage. You will tag along marksman Samurai, and he will hunt down some guys with his bow, it is not cheap where you need to do all the work, like in some other games.

Bottom line, feel no regret for preordering so far, game is very good, and I am on Lithuanian salary, I definitely do not have capacity to pre order every game, I almost always wait for price drops, but this one I was hyped about, and so far its delivering.

I love that we somehow got a Raps fan over here because we've got a better video game thread than the actual video game board. I was just coming in here to see if there were any initial Ghost impressions. Thanks for contributing, my dude.

But seriously, check out some AC games. AC2 is considered the godfather of the series. AC: Black Flag is my personal favorite because of the sea combat. Odyssey and Origins mostly ditched the previous formula to focus on RPG elements and smoother combat.

Ghost is next on my list to play. I knocked off my second castle in Shadow of War last night, got a few left to go.

I roam between boards. I am Raptors fan, but to me NBA always was second tier to Euroleague and FIBA, so I not really devoted enough to be malicious to other NBA team fans honestly.

I think I would like last 2 AC games, because from what I heard its more of the RPG, I am not a huge fan of games where you dont level up, its a thing of the past to me. I played naughty dog games, but they are so reliant on story and cutscenes, that I feel that I could just watch some playthrough and wouldnt lose all that much.

Ghost so far feels like real RPG. I really struggled with shield guys, but got one ability that is very useful against them, I instantly feel reward for doing missions and exploring, gaining XP. And there is a lot of customization in leveling up, and everyones playthrough will be somewhat different because of that, I like that.

Bought Ghost yesterday - didn't have the highest hopes based on the reviews here, but needed something to pass the time. Can def see the AC comparisons, but then again, I loved Odyssey. I'm pretty early in, but best feature thus far is Kurosawa mode, which to me really amps up the story. Looking forward to seeing how much greater the depth goes.

So I played Ghost most of the weekend and am loving it. By this afternoon my nerves needed a little break so I watched golf and baseball instead, but excited to get back to it. Love the setting, the visuals, and I am really digging the side quests. Aside from the 'here's a random outpost you can clear' things you come across, the actual sidequests are quite good for a game of this type. Much better than I'd expect.

ETA: Also, I can't believe I almost didn't get it. Lol.

For gaming I'd assume you'd want 144hz? What graphics card do you have and how much are you looking to spend? Are you deadset on 4k and IPS or would you do 2k and VA? Reason I ask is because 4k 144hz is going to be pricey, and you'd need a pretty good graphics card to run newer games on high settings.

I have the Samsung C32HG70 2k 144hz curved monitor and I absolutely love it. Happened to get an incredible deal one day on Amazon for under $450.

Looking to spend around $1000-$1500. Currently I'm running an RTX 2080.

I'd check out the Acer Predators. They're always some of the best and I know they have a 4k 144hz IPS one, I think its 27" and under $1000. I've always waned one of those.
