Bonga fouls out with only 5 points but a +18.

Nice to see TBJ leading the comeback with a little help from Ish.
Edit - and of course, right after I say that - both TBJ and Ish miss 3's.

How many wide open 3s can you miss...
It was a tie game and then Nuggets scored like 10 in a row and game over. Damn.

Oh well, it was a competitive game - and basketball's almost all the way back! I hope Bryant's ok - he only played 7 minutes - none in the 2nd half.

Yea, lack of a good 3pt shooter killed us in the end.

Man, Bol Bol looked great. The DEN announcers were gushing over him, and justifiably so. I don't want to put too much weight on one game, but the upside was obvious -- especially in comparison to Schofield.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Bol showed a ton of potential, but... he didn't have a good offensive game, and aside from the blocks - he was only so-so on defense. What he can do is very impressive. Of course, his durability is always going to be questioned. Picking Admiral over him made no sense - even if Bol never plays a regular season game.

TBJ really needs a jump shot. I loved everything about his game today....except for that jumper.
He played like a man among men, controlled the tempo, picked his spots carefully but decisively and showed great court vision.

Thank goodness we got the mini Admiral instead.
He can’t play at all, but wow that culture change.

Re: Scrimmage #1: Wiz vs Nuggets
Unfortunately, it was impossible for me to watch the game. I've watched a bunch of highlight reels this morning. Very satisfying to see basketball again. Like letting go of a breath you've been holding for months....
Single biggest takeaway for me: Troy Brown is still only 20 years old (turns 21 next week), but he plays the game, thinks the game, & analyzes the game like a veteran. Great kid & a real asset.
Rui rebounded the ball well, but didn't defend well or shoot well.
First real "game", so you don't expect either team to shoot well. We had 85 FGAs vs. their 63 & still lost, but the loss was mostly down to giving them 12 extra trips to the line, which they turned into 12 extra points. That & being completely unable to keep them out of the paint.
Drafting Admiral with a high upside prospect like Bol available continues to look like one of Tommy's few, but egregious, errors.
That & trading for Jerome Robinson & his guaranteed salary.
If we don't re-sign Shabazz, that trade-deadline day is going to look really really horrible. He only played 17 minutes, but he went 2-4, had 5 assists, stole the ball 2 times, & committed zero turnovers.

I wish more GMs applied the basic principles of “Occam’s Razor” to their drafting strategy. What is most likely the best idea is the one you should go with - don’t out-smart yourself by constantly trying to find a diamond in the rough.

He has an undisclosed personal reason for not showing up yet. They could really use his 3 point shooting to spread opposing defenses.

&, since GMs passed on Bol repeatedly that draft night, I guess we can say it's a pretty common error!
(edit: of course there are 2 different questions here -- I wouldn't have picked Admiral @#42 even if Bol had been off the board. Moreover, we seem to have bought the #42 pick precisely because we had targeted Admiral Schofield. That I really don't get.)
