How many quotes are there of retired NBA players implying or flat out saying that player x from their generation would dominate in today's league? Jordan said he'd score 100, McGrady said Kobe would score 100, Rodman said Jordan would easily average 50, and there are countless more.

I have no problem with Mikal saying what he did - it's time the new guys call out the old players; everyone else certainly seems to be giving them a pass

Yeah, what Mikal said was just in good fun, and I can see from his perspective, he probably would have an easier time guarding Jordan than LeBron.

But people saying trade the turd? He may be our most fundamentally sound player. Not many players work that hard on defense all the time....and as a second year player always guard the other team's best player, unless it's a dominating big like Embiid or Jokic.

Ideally I think he is the sort of player you would want starting in the future anyway. Not really a 6th man type for me.

He has faced Ingles, Tatum and Siakam for the majority of the time in those games.

Mikal has been impressive defensively, he can really guard anyone from 1 to 4. It's fun to watch him play elite defense.

Mikal has been our best player in these scrimmages, followed by Cam and Rubio. DA always has the solid +/- but he's always playing with the starters. Booker has done a lot of that thing I hate: missing shots. And the difference in defense between the two of them is....... well, you know what it is. Mikal All-Defense out there.

Opponents in the bubble are shooting 36.4% against Bridges, per NBA.com, right with elite defenders like Paul George and Anthony Davis. The number is sixth-best of players who defend more than 10 shots per game (Sun Devil product Lu Dort leads the bubble by holding folks to 28 freaking percent!).

Bridges has flashed off-the-bounce potential as a scorer in Orlando, too.

“Mikal is the ultimate team player,” Jones said. “I don’t want to demean his skillset and what he brings to the team. I think Mikal is an elite team player. Whatever you ask him to do, whatever you need him can do, he can do it.

“That’s the baseline of our culture,” Jones added. “I think he more than anyone else has been able to show everyone what we valued when we drafted him on draft night.”

Could Bridges be our Pippen?

Bridges is going to be an all-defensive player for many years. I don't think he has the playmaking skills of Pippen. At least not at this time. He could certainly improve in that area but with Rubio and Booker being primary ball handlers it could be harder for Bridges to develop that area of his game. Honestly, Cam Johnson has better passing and vision skills right now. If we could get 3-4 assists per game out of those two and then the typical 6-10 for Rubio and Booker that's elite team numbers. When Rubio's tenure is over I could see his numbers drifting upwards.

Yeah, Pippen was great at assists...I don't think Bridges is quite like that but think he has great vision. His rookie season he had 7 and 8 assists in games and averaged more before Rubio came and we had two primary ball handlers. I don't know if Cam has better vision than him, though it is good. Bridges has had some high assist games and averages more. Bridges seems very aware, though Cam is too. They seem like smart players...though they came from great programs where they spent years and came in older.
