Yep! Only problem for him to come here is Boston could sign him only once Kemba's deal is over.

Isn't the timeline pretty tricky? Here are when contracts are over, assuming JT and Mitchell get 5 year extensions:

Kemba: 3 years left, over in 2023
Tatum: 6 yrs left, over in 2026
Mitchell: 6 yrs left, over in 2026

I could be off on those dates with Tatum and Mitchell but nonetheless tough to project cap space in 6 years

The short answer is that theres really only one path thats realistic. We may not take it, or want to take it, but its building a trade around Jaylen [and probably Smart].

Just saw this and I agree on that’s the foundation of it

If he could successfully defend Enes too, then that would really be something.

Noone is the Freak, he is his own species. Tatum may be his own species as well ... there is not a good player comp for JT, he is blazing a new path ....same as giannis

bc of shooting (FT esp) and D, JT will inevitably pass GA

Nope— hes 6’2 per his official measurement at the draft combine. Mitchell was 6’1.25. Theyre very close in height.

Is Smart stronger? Yup. But we wouldnt ask Mitchell to guard PFs so I think its irrelevant.

Smart is an anomaly and a Kemba/Mitchell backcourt would get absolutely worked defensively. They are too small, lol.

Seriously. Who is living a better life right now than Javante Green? Undrafted. Played overseas. Then finally comes back and makes it to the NBA so he can take care of his family. And to top it off, he plays on a young team that's an ECF contender. Pandemic or not, Green has to be milking this moment in time for all it's worth. Odds are against him making this team against next year but he's got some skill and tons of athleticism. If he's not back I hope he catches on somewhere else.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I like this kid a lot. His explosiveness and build remind me so much of TA. Just wish he had the same sort of tenacity on D, but I can't fault him. TA was special on defense.

Amen, we finally have great size and athleticism (at the wings) I don’t want to think about giving it up. Kemba for Mitchell? Sure. JB/Smart? No way.

I didnt advocate it, just said that:

a) thats the only way to get Mitchell, if we want him

And

b) using height alone is stupid. Defense is a mentality. Smart has it, obviously.

Personally, I think we should move Kemba to a 6th man role and start Smart going forward, but Im just not willing to endure the metric ton of crap I’d take after seeing what you took with IT.

All good, but my point was that Kemba-Mitchell is too small of a backcourt, and that they will get worked as a result. For all the points you are bringing up, I think that you actually agree with me there?

Yes, but the corollary is that maybe Kemba as a 6th man is a solution to that issue.

Totally agree. We do not want to get smaller. The real hard move to make would be Walker for a big and make Smart the point guard, but walker is just too good o find any deal like that where we don't lose the trade.
