Oladipo vs Hayward

Post#1 » by arkuo » Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:42 am

If the money was the same, who would fit dallas better as a 3rd star?

Both having gone through injuries, pretty much the same age. Hayward being 3 inches taller. Oladipo's sketchy contract situation in Indiana vs Hayward having a player option making both players become free agents pretty soon.

Oladipo might have a slight edge defensively but his alpha mentality worries me that he will be relegated as a 3rd star here and that has the possibility of making him unhappy.

Hmmm very good question, i personally have always preferred the 2 star system, i don't like the 3 star thing unless they're great players because it give you no roster flexibility if u have 3 max guys. I wouldn't max either but just for this i always prioritize size and shooting so id prefer Hayward.

If Oladipo can return to his pre-injury form, just like what Hayward is doing this year. I will take Oladipo. He is younger, better scorer in clutch situation, tough minded, still a very good defender, and can force turnovers toward opponents.

I was all about #Dipotodallas until I heard he's got alot of ties with Miami.

Now I just keep thinking Gobert will end up in a Mavs uniform.

Gobert and KP in the middle... Good luck to any opposing team scoring near the basket

Neither. Is Hayward an upgrade at SF or PF? No.
Olapdipo needs the ball to be most effective. Paying him to play with Luka would be like having DSJ back. If this is the case, just get DSJ back at a cheaper price.

In what world is Hayward not an upgrade over DFS? Hayward's a better shooter, scorer, playmaker, rebounder, and he's pretty much as good a defender as DFS is. We could discuss fit, age, contract size, but not who the clearly better player is...

^ also, i’d have Hayward start at Forward alongside DFS, not replace him. Hayward’s actually a good fit bc he can be a secondary playmaker but also spot off ball and knock down the 3-ball.

G - Doncic
G - Hardaway
F - Hayward
F - DFS
C - Porzingis

As we start to thing about using cap space next offseason, we can have anywhere from 17-million to 28- million. Hayward should definitely be considered as an upgrade to the starting lineup, though he’s probably Tier B or Tier C. Jrue Holiday is still preferred over Olidipo or Hayward to me.

FWIW, it’s a tough call between these two mainly bc Olidipo’s fit isn’t great. When he was in OKC, you saw he wasn’t great with a ball dominant player like Westbrook. Now, he’s improved in IND but maxing him out with that uncertainty is crazy. He’s far superior to Hayward but we know what Hayward has looked like when he’s the 3rd/4th option in BOS.
