When we win the chip, will there be a parade?

Post#1 » by T0R0NT0_RAPT0RS » Wed Jul 29, 2020 7:14 pm

Ok ok... I'm half-serious that I think we can win the chip again. But for whoever wins (and actually this relates to all the sports), how will the winner celebrate this year? I presume a parade is out of the question. The logistics are just too difficult. And even before the parade, how do you think the "on-court" celebration is gonna be? Are they even gonna bother with a podium presentation? With no fans, it's gonna be crazy awkward. I guess they will do something, even if it's just for TV to do the interviews. And will there even be a champagne party in the locker room?

Just some random thoughts as we get closer to the re-start.

Why wouldn't there by a champagne party in the locker room, lol. They are in a bubble and tested...so if they are approved to play it means that no one has tested positive.

Also we had mass protests all around Canada just 1 month ago for BML.

I'm sure we could have a social distancing type of a parade...have it spread out. Have lots of police making sure people aren't clumped together.

Unfortunately, when we repeat, there will not be a parade.

But I am optimistic there will be one when we three-peat.

The finals is ending no later than October 13th...therefore the parade will be in mid October, which is almost 2.5 months away. I think there will be parade, especially if the Raptors beat Lebron & the Lakers....people aren't going to stay locked up in their houses forever, especially after seeing all the mass gathering protests that have been going on for months now.

The Raptors themselves probably wont have a parade though.

Protesting social injustice and a celebratory parade are very different things...
The key is not the ‘will to win’… everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important

If the mass gathering protests aren't resulting in spikes of coronavirus cases then a parade should be fine as well as long as it's outdoors and everyone is wearing masks. According to the media and health officials the BLM protests in Toronto did not result in a spike in coronavirus cases.

If the virus ticks back up in the fall like some experts are saying, then there will probably not be a parade.

We'll do a low-key style boat parade.

One parade. Through the hallway and out the exit doors at Disney World

Virtual parade for whoever wins.

I'll gladly take that for a chance to say we are 2-peat champions going for 3-peat. However unlikely.

Meh, they will do both at the same time. The league seems into that sort of thing now. BLM on the court, replacing player names with social justice messages, even the coaching staff wearing (Hi, I'm Joe!) social message name tags.

This is one of the many reasons this year's championship will need to have an asterisk, do you really think it will feel as special on the podium as it has in year's past? I just don't think so. Thank god we won our first one when we did.

I think you could probably pull it off. Good idea? Probably not but definitely doable. Could do it in an massive field somewhere in the GTA, set it up like a drive-in theater or outdoor concert, set up a stage for the players. Everyone wears masks, have to buy a ticket to make sure a million people don't show up lol.

I'm sure there are much better options than that too.

What is the 'good life'?

Is it living as long as possible, or is it having the most life in your years?

More and more I'm leaning towards the latter.

See you at the party.
