However, I'm not sure there's really one available. Obviously Bradley Beal come to mind, but after that? You would either need to find a team that going into a rebuild and has some vets to move, or a team that is in a rebuild and has said vet. After Bradley Beal I dont really see a player potentially available that would be worth this package.

I guess if the Rockets decide the current core will never do anything, Russell Westbrook?

I dont think/hope that the Knicks are looking to make a win now move either. But that wasn't the question of the thread

What about the 6th Overall Pick on its own?

6th Overall = Which Veteran? Keep in mind salary matching isn’t necessary

This draft is beauty in the eye of the beholder. Maybe the 6th pick is worth John Collins, but I'll bet you get some Hawks fans that disagree. Maybe Hield. Maybe Harrell.

...maybe Kelly Oubre + 10 if something else goes back to Phoenix.

Could Derrick White run a Thibs offense? White + 11 for 6?

I doubt any of those guys would be available for #6 in this draft. The 6th pick could be Haliburton, Okoro, maybe Toppin. I guess Avdija or Hayes might be there.

This can be done without GSW involved, but if Bulls are going tank, why not...

To GSW: OPJ + Sato (via TPE) + #27 (2020 Clippers FRP via Knicks)

To Bulls: Wiggins + Barrett + #6 (2020 Knicks FRP)

To Knicks: LaVine + #3 (2020 GSW FRP)

Warriors swap out Wiggins for OPJ at cost of their FRP. They give him and Sato a try or have non negative trade ballast + 2021 Wolves FRP + Own FFRP for subsequent consolidation trade.

Bulls give Barrett with White backcourt a try while getting back-to-back FRPs. Either draft 2x players of the future or consolidate and move up draft board.

Knicks give Thibs a win-now guy in LaVine and move up in draft so he can draft his guy.

If Knicks move up into top 2 and add Barrett, yes. Maybe too much for Dipo with his expiring and injury history.

Three way
To Knicks Butler, Layman
To Heat Edwards or Ball
To Timberwolves. Barrett, 6th, 23

I could see Barrett and 6 for Butler and I hate it.

It’s the most Pat Riley move ever. Sending Butler to the Knicks (who were on his list last he requested a trade) under a coach you know he loves is a good optic to part ways. Then you create cap space now, cap space later and add depth pieces as part of recruiting Giannis and any guys he wants to team with.

It’s also so Knicks honestly.

I would probably trade the #1 pick for RJ Barrett and #6.

I don't see the Knicks using Barrett just to get a rookie honestly. I'm betting they would go more seasoned vet in the trade Barrett case.

This doesnt involve RJ, but what about:

SAC TRADES
Buddy Hield (24M)
#12

NYK TRADES
Bobby Portis (15M EC)
Kevin Knox (4.6M TO)
Reggie Bullock (4.2M EC)
#6
#27

SAC gets some expirings to clear money and resign Bogdan. They move up to #6 to draft Deni Avdija, use 27 on Desmond Bane.

G - DeAaron Fox / Cory Joseph
G - Bogdan Bogdanovic / Desmond Bane
F - Deni Avdija / Reggie Bullock
F - Harrison Barnes / Nemanja Bjelica / Bobby Portis
C - Richaun Holmes / Marvin Bagley / Bobby Portis

NYK moves down for a huge needed 3PT shotting boost in the arm in Hield. They use #12 on Cole Anthony and 38 on Robert Woodard and pay Christian Wood some decent money on a big, shorter term deal.

G - Cole Anthony / Frank Ntilikina / Dennis Smith Jr
G - Buddy Hield / Frank Ntilikina / Wayne Ellington
F - RJ Barrett / Robert Woodard / Ignas Brazdeikis
F - Christian Wood / Taj Gibson / (Robert Woodard)
C - Mitchell Robinson / Julius Randle / (Taj Gibson)

If Portis is team option or non guaranteed, just let NYK close that out and send less salary to Sacramento. Whether it is a TPE or cap space, it is questionable if Vlade will do something constructive with it. At least the Kings won't be wildly overpaying Portis.

NYG was asking about the value of #6 on its own.

If Ainge really likes Barrett and the player on the board at #6 maybe he’d do Jaylen Brown? It’s just a tough move to make where Boston is competitively though so it’d take a ton of conviction.

Yeah, I suspect they would given that the consensus among non-Portland fans is that CJ practically has no value at all on his contract. It's just crazy to me how everyone on a large contract that isn't an all-star is labeled an albatross and yet somehow there is this continuing charade that McCollum is valuable.
It's pretty ironic that Philadelphia fans are constantly trying to concoct deals around Harris or Horford for McCollum and yet he has no value.

I'm not trying to start an unnecessary debate just pointing out that it's entirely consistent since most Philly fans acknowledge Horford and Harris do not have any value either on their contracts.

As for your proposal, while I maintain the value is wildly off, I do think Portland makes some sense if they can figure out a way to turn whatever assets and salary relief they could get from trading McCollum into a win now player that has less overlap with Dame's skill set like a bigger wing.

Just to clarify, my post was not a proposed trade per se and I was not saying that McCollum's value is equal to RJ + #6. I was merely answering from a Blazer perspective the question in the title, which is to say that the best player Portland would give up for that package is CJ. And I immediately followed that up with a comment about Blazers accepting it because the value is in their favor despite the timeline not being. At the time of my post, the only better player proposed was Gobert which was quickly rejected by Utah fans. If I were to actually be making a proposal that is trying to match needs for NY and make the value match, it would not have been a simple "CJ" to the question, and I understand Portland would need to add more to make the trade make sense. Additionally, I doubt it would be a legal trade financially, so more would need to be worked out there for a proposal.

Does Aaron Gordon + Mo Bamba for Barrett + #6 make sense for both teams?

Magic commit to Vucevic and Isaac, upgrades a position of need, and gets a re-do for Bamba

Knicks get Gordon who helps bring excitement to the team, and a project in Bamba
