If his tall body can hold up (which is often a challenge), he could be very interesting some day.

I get the point, but that video was made when Thon was 18. Victor shows more finesse to his game at age 16 despite being several inches taller. I don't remember Thon's high school hype or rank to compare, but Victor is widely considered an elite prospect that is starting to get Doncic like praise. He has already had success in international play in FIBA as well. Obviously there is no guarantee of development, but the ceiling is very high on this kid.

It's always off-putting to see someone so tall and long with such a thin frame. Gives off an alien-like feeling.

He's handled look smooth and polished for a 16 year old. Definitely on the scouting report.

My thoughts as well. His legs are all over the place. He's young, so he's still growing into his body, but he just doesn't look like he's got the fluidity in his movements at this point. Improving that will be a big factor to his ultimate success.

Some people thought this kid was a CGI creation instead of being a real 17 year old

Looks like a baby KP. I dont think he is a novelty type, the way he moves and fluidity of his shot make the highlight scout in me but in. Need to see more, and I hope he stops growing, but I really dont see a fake gangly this-kid-dominates-on-size type in him.

And Thon busted because he has no feel for the game. He cant catch a pass, he has no consistency in his shot, he doesnt have any 'flow' to him on offense or defense. He didnt bust because of his lack of natural talent, he is a pretty freaky athlete and has elite measurables. He just cant take good habits and make them habitual, he was born with zero natural basketball abilities.

EDIT: Watching some more highlights he does seem pretty slow but at 16 at his height he could just be in that 'baby deer' phase.

I think it also matters how translatable their primary skills are. What seemed to make Thon special was the way he moved with the ball in his hands - well, it's unlikely that a 7' player is going to be a primary ball handler, and his ball skills weren't enough for him to be better than a wing at using one of his biggest weapons.

I think tjis is why he’s hard to project. It’s so hard to know how his body will react to weight gain. If he gets more balanced and explosive with weight, he could be scary good. He could get even slower, or he could just stay where he’s at and struggle gaining significant weight... it’s just so hard to tell.
