84 combined free throw in the game between Memphis and Portland

Post#1 » by Homer38 » Fri Jul 31, 2020 11:28 pm

It was a great game, but the number of free throws and technical fouls was embarrassing

And overall, since the scrimmage game, the referee call way too many foul more than ever(62 foul in this game,57 for the game between Clippers and Lakers with 65 free throw combined), I hope that will not be the norm because the game which lasts 3 hours (overtime or not) is a bit too much.

The technical fouls were super embarrassing. How dare they show any emotion in a meaningful game lol.

It is at the moment even worse in the game between the Celtics and the bucks ... 29 free throw for the Celtics in the first half vs 20 for the bucks ... So 49 free throw and 32 foul combined in the first half.

And his 2 teams attempted 44 three points combined, so very good chance that you will go in the free throw line (especially in the first half) when you attack the paint ...

The irony’s that the officiating tightened up under David Stern and then Adam Silver because the league wanted to prevent another Malice at the Palace.

And now it’s gotten worse in games with NO crowd.

Adam Silver has completely dropped the ball with the insanity of the technical fouls, and watching guys get techs left and right is ruining the games. This is a political decision from the top down.

Stop the madness now and let the players have fun and play with emotion. It’s so weak on Silver’s behalf.

This Celtics-Bucks game is turning into a foul fest too. C's already with 29 FTs in the first half.

These bubble refs need to chill out with their whistles. Did they miss calling fouls so much during that 4-month hiatus???

Glad I had recorded that game, definitely did a lot of fast forwarding. Really good game either than that though

Refs 100% outta control.

Scott Foster was putting up reps in the Lakers/Clippers game.

Refs are human. This is new for them also. Without the crowd noise, it's a natural reflex to blow the whistle when you hear these much louder fouls.

NBA has the worst referees of any professional sports league, has for decades. It won't change, don't waste electrons complaining about it.

The refs need to create more equality, freedom, and fairness on the court.

I’ll take my win in whatever “version” of basketball that was. Nurk and Melo looked good... F it

Don't show emotion, play the game like robots, then players will be criticized for playing for $ rather than for the love of the game.

That was an ugly game. I feel as though Memphis' free throws were warranted though in the first half. I really like Jusuf Nurkic. If he played for a better team he may be considered top 7 or 8 in the league for centers. But he is in a really BAD situation in Portland. He could be a top 5 center if he played for Boston or even Sacramento.

But there is no need for that many free throws, but we all need to remember Portland cant play defense, and so they are left only with fouling as a way to contest on defense. They will naturally play in games where their opponent get close to 60 free throws.

Refs just as enthused as the players are to be on the court again and for the refs being able to blow that whistle again.

So a playoff game between the 8th and 9th seed with RS refs.

The techs were especially embarrassing, and because of the precedent set earlier, they felt they had to call a T with 18 seconds left in a close game for yelling after a clutch block. Ref can't chance overturning a game because of **** like that.

Also, it is just silly to say Nurk is in a bad situation in Portland, yet a more stacked team like Boston would allow Nurkic to thrive much more. But based on some past posts I've seen (either really bad takes or trolling, not sure which), I know not to take that poster seriously.

I perfectly predicted the exact outcomes of 3 of their past 5 playoff appearances and predicted they wouldnt be in the playoffs this year.
